Activity 2: Content Notes (13 min)

Directions: Read the lecture notes here and analyse the details so you can answer the questions that follow.

Next In Line? It means that you are the next to do whatever is about to happen. It means succession. Do
you really like what you see today? Do you like the things that is happening today? You are the next in line,
therefore, in your hands lies the life ahead of you, will it be bright days ahead, well it depends on you
because you are next in line…The roles you will be performing in coming years will depend on what you do
today.

What is our role in History?

There is a saying that “People were loved when they are born and people were loved when they die, in
between they have to manage”… is there history here in the making? Yes and that’s you.

Albert Einstein says “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The most important thing is
not to stop questioning”. History is a very interesting subject that gave answer to all questions.

We have to bear in mind the fact that the technologies we enjoy today are by-products of developments that
are rooted from our past. On the other hand, History is a tool in understanding national Identity. It helps in
tracing the roots of the Filipino people and the struggle they underwent to attain unity and independence. It
serves as a tool in History. Historians state that we are a living history. What does this mean? We are a
living history because we are a product of what happened in the past.

Today we are going to analyze the song by After Image entitled Next in Line. This is a very popular song,
and you must be familiar with the tune. Nonetheless, you don’t have to worry if you don’t know the song.
Just go through the lyrics and relate it to our role in history as a people. After this, you will be next in line
performing this song. We will use the rubrics below. Are you ready?
