Okay thank you!

Literature – is a body of written and oral works that uses words that
stimulates the audience/reader and provide him with a unique of vision
of life.

Literature is influenced by culture, history and environment.

Did you notice that the video you have watch earlier is reflecting
various influences?

VARIOUS INFLUENCES OR FACTORS IN LITERARY SELECTION

1. Cultural influence – is the pattern of learned behavior and beliefs

of a particular social, ethnic or age group.

When we say culture according to Ralph Linton (1940) defines,

“The sum total of knowledge, attitudes and habitual behavior patterns
shared and transmitted by the members of a particular society.”

Some examples of culture in the Philippines are:

 Filipino family values, which emphasize the importance of the

family as the center.

 Filipino dining etiquette, which reveals a lot about the person's

manners, such as waiting for the host to invite you to eat,
using a spoon and fork, and not leaving any food on the plate.

 Strong religious community and it’s superstitious nature.

2. History – branch of knowledge that records and explains past

events, connected with studying or representing things from the past:
It is about what has happened in the life or development of a people,
country, institution, etc.

Example: Death of Rizal, Philippine Revolution, Heneral Luna

3. Environment – is a place where different things; living or non-

living constantly interact with and adapt to conditions in their
environment.

4. Economic – giving good value or return in relation to the money,

time or effort expended.

That’s it! Is there any questions or clarifications?
