White Oak Elementary School
A. School Vision:
I would not change or update my school’s vision. I feel that the administration carefully crafted the
mission and belief statements to reflect the teachers, students and stakeholders own personal beliefs about
education and learning. All stakeholders share a responsibility to engage in student academic achievement
and both the mission and belief statements cover all aspects of learning and support for student learning.
3. Describe how your school’s data team can use data to measure meaningful progress toward realization of
your school’s vision.
At White Oak Elementary School, data will be collected and used to measure meaningful progress towards
the school’s vision. Instruction practices and student achievement goals will be impacted based on decisions
by the Data Team. All instructional decisions should be driven from and should support the realization of
the school’s vision. To measure meaningful progress toward the realization of my school’s vision, the data
team should analyze data across grade levels and content areas.
B. Purpose of the Data Team:
The purpose of the Data Team would be to investigate the current status of student learning and
instructional practices and determine areas of growth to improve student learning. Data collected will be
shared with the staff during monthly faculty meetings and weekly content area meetings. The Data Team
will track student achievement on district assigned common assessments to demonstrate growth in student
achievement. Members will share responsibilities by taking on one of the many Data Team roles.
Data Teams will be introduced during pre-planning to the faculty. Individuals are recommended for roles
within the team. Based on familiarity and comfort level, Data Team members will take on a role such as
facilitator, recorder, materials manager, dialogue monitor, and timekeeper. These roles will help the team
stay organized and collaborate effectively. Participants from each grade level will be encouraged to join, as
well as support staff. Data Teams will work towards specific goals that are beneficial for both faculty and
students.
D. Decision-Making Authority:
Data teams would have some authority to make decisions needed to facilitate change within classrooms that
leads to positive learning outcomes. Data teams will provide data to support implementation/elimination of
teaching and learning strategies. Administration would facilitate a discussion with the entire data team after
reviewing data collected to determine if a change is truly needed. A majority consensus must be achieved before
implementing any changes the Data Team recommends.
