Radio Based Instruction Plan

I. Objectives:
• Define Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Recover and Repair ((ELC Science 5 Q1 Week 5-7))
II. Activities:

In this exceptional times, while coping with this Global Pandemic. Learning will continue, quality
education must be delivered. Broadcasting live from Pangantucan Central Elementary School this
is your school in the air. 99.9 Radyo Centro.

Good day Grade V students! You are now listening to our first ever school in the air program.
Where you can learn different skills filled with fun activities. I’m Teacher Mary Ann Sanchez from
Pangantucan Central Elementary School serving you with a different skill to learn in Science 5.

Karon nga hapon tun-an nato ang mahitungod sa Properties of Matter.

Time Check (Time) and this is brought to us by PCES.

Properties of matter can be classified as physical or chemical. Physical properties can be

observed without any changes in its composition such as hardness, brittleness, flexibility, elasticity,
conductivity, malleability, and ductility. On the other hand, chemical properties are characteristics
that can only be observed when the composition of materials has changed. Combustibility,
flammability, and biodegradability are some examples of chemical properties.

Translation: Ang Properties of matter mahimong iklasipikar nga physical o chemical.

komposisyon niini sama sa as hardness, brittleness, flexibility, elasticity, conductivity,
malleability, and ductility.

Matter also has individual characteristics that can help us identify the value of a particular material.
Some materials can still be reused. Some must be discarded with extra care for it may cause harm
to the environment if not disposed properly. Understanding the different properties of matter may
help us in minimizing waste production. Practicing 5R’s –reduce, reuse, recycle, recover and
repair-are some techniques that can be used for waste management.

Investigate changes that happen in materials

under the following conditions:
a. presence or lack of oxygen
Matter undergoes changes. This can either be physical or chemical change. Physical
changes happen when material change its size, shape, or form. When the composition of the
material is altered, chemical change occurs. The formation of a new product, formation of gas,
release or absorption of heat and formation or precipitate are some evidences of chemical change.
With these changes, it can help us to manage and minimize waste.

Translation: Ang matter muagi ug kausaban o kabagohan, Mahimo kini usa ka

nagbag-o sa gidak-on, porma, o hulagway niini.

 Oxygen is a part of the air that surrounds us. It has effects on different materials.
 Some fruits like apple, turnips, mango, etc. and some root crops like sweet potato eggplant,
etc. have enzymes which when combined with oxygen gives it brown color, a sign of food
spoilage.
 The combination of materials with oxygen is called Oxidation.
 This example given undergo the process of chemical change.
 Combustion refers to the process where substance burns in the presence of oxygen.
 The three things needed for combustion are oxygen, fuel, and heat.
 If one of these three is not present, then combustion will not occur
 Iron when combined with oxygen form rust.
 iron with oxygen present in the air.
 The amount of rust formed in an iron depends on the moisture and humidity of the
surroundings.
