Materials under the presence or lack of oxygen.

 Physical change means, change in size, shape, color, texture, state,

magnetic or electrical condition without changing the molecular
composition.
 Chemical change is the formation of one or more new substances due to
the action or presence of heat and other substances such as acid. The
presence of bubbles, a change in color and release of heat indicate a
chemical change.
 Combustion Reaction which a substance reacts with oxygen gas,
releasing energy in the form of light and heat.
 Physical reaction occurs when molecules undergo a molecular
rearrangement to produce a physical change.
 Decomposition Reaction result in the breakdown of a complex
substance into two or more simpler substances.

DIRECTIONS: Identify what is physical or chemical change. Put your answers

on the blank space provided before the number.

Competency: Investigate changes that happen in materials under the presence or lack of
oxygen.
_____1. fireworks exploding _____6. baking a cake
_____2. rusting of iron _____7. crumpling a paper bag
_____3. heating sugar to form a caramel _____8. metabolism of food in the
Body.
_____4. boiling water _____9. mixing salt and sand
_____5. breaking a glass ____10. chopping an apple

DIRECTIONS: True (T) or False (F)

1 Changing the size and shapes of pieces of wood would be a

chemical change.

2 In a physical change, the makeup of matter is changed.

3 Evaporation occurs when liquid water changes into a gas.

4 Evaporation is a physical change.

5 Burning wood is a physical change.

6 Combining hydrogen and oxygen to make water is a physical

change.

7 Breaking up concrete is a physical change

8 Sand being washed out to sea from the beach is a chemical change.

9 When ice cream melts, a chemical change occurs

1 Acid rain damaging a marble statue is a physical change.
