I. OBJECTIVE
 To calibrate two weirs by determining the discharge
coefficient.

II. MATERIALS AND APPARATUS

● Hydraulic Bench
● Ruler
● Water Splitter

HYDRAULIC BENCH RULER WATER SPLITTER

III. PROCEDURE

1. Place water splitter on the opening at the top of volumetric tank.

2. Turn on the motor in the switch box and turn clockwise.
3. Turn the control valve counterclockwise gently to allow water to flow in the
channel.
4. Manipulate the control valve to your desired flow rate of the water.
5. Measure the height of the flowing water and the width of the open channel.
6. Close the dump gate to stop water from draining.
7. Set the volume for the base reading, preferably 5L. (Starting from 10L to 15L)
8. Using a stopwatch, get the time until it reaches the specified base reading criteria.
9. After attaining the time until it reaches the specified base reading, open the dump
gate to drain the water.
10. Repeat procedures 5-9 for trial 2 and 3.
11. After completing the 3 trials, turn off the switch box and turn the...
counterclockwise.
12. Close the control valve clockwise.
13. Remove the water splitter.
