Since 1989, STEINADLER VERLAG Publishing House has published a number of textbooks
and grammar series for schools teaching German as a Foreign Language. In 2003 our
publishing house has also became exclusively specialized in creating books and
educational media for German as a Foreign Language, for children starting from 7 years
of age and continuing up to the B1 language level.

STEINADLER VERLAG holds a big market share in Greece in public schools (up to 90%) as
well as in private schools and is one of the leading publishing houses for German as a
Foreign Language in Greece. Recently, STEINADLER VERLAG has established its presence

 Our Philosophy
Those who learn with personal interest and motivation, tend to learn easier. Easier learning
usually results in better overall language proficiency.

That is why all our educational material places a lot of emphasis on the fun of learning German.
A playful experience with language motivates learning and makes children delight in German
learning, improves their feel of the language, and stimulates their senses. As a result,
a stress-free approach is enabled.

All our educational media are adjusted to the psychological level of development of the children.
Every age is accompanied by certain methods that are implemented in the books. The topics are
inspired by the experiences of the everyday life of children and should encourage the development of
personality, promote a critical way of thinking, foster the sense of community and activate a
positive attitude towards life. The gradual psychological level of development is not only reflected in
the topics, but also in the illustrations and tasks.

As there is no second chance for the formation of first impressions, all the units of our books start
with a song that suits the unit topic. Music is highly motivating; it is the perfect medium for the
introduction of topics, in order to get the learners in the right mood and raise their awareness for
each new topic. Moreover, music appeals to the emotional self of the students and therefore allows
a long-ranging embedding of knowledge. Furthermore, music helps to overcome the fear towards
something new (in our case German language and new topics). Finally, the lyrics of the songs help to
foster the oral fluency and boost correct pronunciation.

 German should be fun! This basic idea led to the creation of all our books “Der rote Ball”,
„Der gelbe Ball“ and “Mini DaF 1,2,3”. These books are specially developed for children from the age
of 7 to 12 years. The conception of the books takes into account the individual learning styles of
children, enabling them to learn through all their senses and not excluding fun, which is an
important component of class-work. The children should be motivated to learn and should not see
foreign language learning as an additional burden. The books are visually appealing with a lot of
vivid illustrations and lead to the acquisition of all the ‘basic essentials’ of the German language with
gradually rising complexity. The skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed and
4 boosted in a step-by-step approach.
The teaching and learning medias “Luftballons 1,2,3”, “MEGA A2,B1” have been especially
developed for learners from the age of 10 up to 16 years old. Students are prepared for the
linguistic activities – speech reception, production, interaction and language mediation.
The selection of topics and the design of the books is youthful and it is adapted to the age
of the learners. All our titles are designed in accordance with the Common European Framework
of Reference for Languages from level A1 up to Level B1.
