Assignment #5

ANSWER
Step 1. Determine the linear function for Vout
Vout = mVin + Vo
Given :
Min Vin = 20 mV Min Vout = 0 V
Max Vin = 250mV Max Vout = 5 V
we can create two equation with two different Vin to find m and Vo
0 = m(0,02) + Vo
5 = m(0,25) + Vo
We obtain m = 21,7 and Vo = - 0,434
So if we put to initial equation we will get
Vout = 21,7 (Vin – 0,02)
A. Creating a summing Amplifier with given formulation
With the formulation above the minimal Vout = - 1,8μV and the maximal Vout = 4,991 V
We can create a summing amplifier as below:

Sensor

output

Constant (Vo)
Testing : Minimum Vin = 20mV
Testing : Maximum Vin = 250mV

The value are not exactly 0 V and 5 V is caused by round off errors in calculation, because we
only take 3 digit of number.
B. Continue the ADC to find the 4 V output

So the range of output is from 0 to 5 V in a 3 bit system meaning that there are 8 segment to
divide the output range.

Voutput Column1 Column2

Based on the formulation, because the Vcc is 5 V and it is a 3 bit system, we can formulate Vout
is as below:
[0 𝑥 2² ]+ [0 𝑥 2 ]+ [0 𝑥 2⁰ ]
VD = X5

The changes are made as follow 000  001  010  100  011  101  110  111
[1 𝑥 2² ]+ [1 𝑥 2 ]+ [1 𝑥 2⁰ ]
VD = X 5 = 4,375

In here the clock stops because VD is more than VA. Which is 111
