Parents and Guardians,

As law enforcement agencies complete their investigation and have the opportunity to file the
appropriate charges, we can share some additional information regarding the situation that
occurred early this morning at the elementary school which led to the arrest of a juvenile in
conjunction with the threat at the Jr.-Sr. High School and the incident at the Elementary School.

Early this morning, the overnight custodian discovered a note taped to an exterior door and a
broken window. Local law enforcement was alerted of the incident immediately and the
suspect was taken into custody early this morning. The custodian was alerted to the incident
by the sound of an object hitting a window. Although the window was broken, the suspect
could not have been able to enter the school building.

I realize many of you may want more information or may have wanted information sooner.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, the school district and law enforcement agencies are not
permitted to release many details. This is a police matter and I do not want to negatively impact
their investigation or the District Attorney’s prosecution.

We are grateful that the suspect was apprehended by the police and that everyone is safe. I
want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we continue to maintain a safe
and secure learning environment.
