BENEFITS OF GRID TIE SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

1) Average sized Grid tie Solar system reduce house with 4 ACs electricity bill to zero or decrease
bill by 80-90% as excess electricity produced the house is sold to the Grid.
2) Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) or in layman term price of one unit of electricity for solar
is about Rs. 5/Kwh for 20 years life. Solar panels has life of more than 25 years.
3) In traditional power systems there is monopoly/oligopoly in generation, transmission and
distribution whereas Solar is decentralized power generation. You are owner of power plant.
4) In Grid Tie system there are no Batteries. 'The Grid' is your virtual battery and it is free. Grid-
tied Solar system is therefore far more economical than Hybrid and Off-Grid Systems.
5) Grid Tie Solar System results in immediate savings and monthly bill will be reduced instantly.
Approval from AEDB, Disco (IESCO) and NEPRA DG generation license is required Net Meter.
6) Net metering provide control over your electricity bill and predictability of electricity bill/cost.

7) Grid Tie Solar pays back within 3-5 years. In Commercial building, payback period is even less.
8) Net Metering customers are subsidized, they use the grid but do not pay for the cost of
maintaining the grid (Maintenance include Capacity payments, fuel costs, Wheeling Charges,
Distributor margin, T&D losses). Thermal Electricity Generation costs in Pakistan are high by
40 to 100 percent compared with other parts of the world.
9) Net Metering customers also do not pay taxes and surcharges in the Electricity bill.
10) Net Metering customers do not pay for electricity theft, last year losses due to theft stood
29% in tune of Rs. 140 billion rupee.
11) Only 10% - 30% (Feeder Line) of electricity consumers will have Net Metering. Net Meters will
be installed on first come first serve basis as per Pakistan’s Net Metering Rules 2015.
12) Solar will result in Roof Utilization of your house and it will become a green energy house.
13) Net Metering will increase your home value. In US, Lawrence Berkeley Study shows significant
increase of up-to four times the amount you invested in Grid tie solar.
14) Grid Tie or On-Grid Inverters do not depend on how much is your load. You need not to
replace your ACs Oven UPS or any Electric equipment.
15) Pakistan’s energy sector circular debt of power is PKR 1.5 trillion, Gas sector is PKR 168 billion
rupee and PKR RLNG sector is 75 billion rupee, it will further escalate gas and electricity price.
16) Domestic Natural Gas is no longer a surplus resource. By 2022, there will be 33% decline in
domestic gas production. It is ideal time to shift to solar powered space heating and cooking.
17) Capacity payments to power plants alone will be around 2000 billion by 2025 as 52 GW
installed capacity pledged by 2025. By installing Solar system you can be saved from price
escalation of electric bills. Pakistan is heading towards a Capacity Trap.
18) Solar power at Noon time (882 TW) falling on Pakistan's land area is 62,820 times than the
yearly average power output of our power plants in 2017 i.e. 14 GW.

Net Metering was installed on March 20, 2018. House has 5 bedrooms 7 ACs
including one in Kitchen, 2400 watt Electric Oven, two electric motor/pumps, Two
