Q.1 Tell me something about yourself.

My name is Aman Kumar. I belong to Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, I belong to a middle-class family
youngest of three children, and I have completed my schooling at GSSS Shahpur. Where I secured
the first position in the class. Apart from my academics I also started to explore extracurricular
activities in the school, I was part of the music team of our school. Our team participated in and won
several district and state-level championships. After completing my school, I joined govt. college
Dharamshala (HPU) for my under graduation. During My graduation, I struggled in the beginning
because the entire mode of instruction was changed to English and I was from Hindi medium
background, Although it was a big challenge for me at that time but I learned gradually and
improved myself with the help of peers and teachers and completed my graduation with a decent
percentage. To utilize the covid time I did some online certifications to improve my knowledge
during the pandemic and an internship at Youth Empowerment Foundation to learn how to apply
learnings from the certification I helped a family friend to start and run his CSC centre, I worked
there for eight months. During this tenure I learned how to interact with customers and how to
manage a business, I was responsible for running a business and providing services to customers.
Now I am pursuing MBA from IIM kashipur to enhance my qualification and gain required skills to
move ahead in my career. I have the ability to work in teams to achieve a common goal. I like to play
cricket, traveling and reading. I am now looking to use skills and knowledge gained during my time at
IIM Kashipur and my past employment to help growing businesses and contribute to solve business
problems in fast paced environment

Strengths
Kindness
I am helpful and empathetic towards people. When someone asks for assistance, I am always willing
to help. Even if I don't know the person, I will do everything in my power to help them without
expecting anything in return. I find happiness in assisting others. When I was working in a shop, I
assisted customers in charging less for services and even did it for free.

Love for Learning

I believe that life is a never-ending learning experience. I am motivated to acquire new knowledge or
skills. When I learn something new or improve on my existing skills or knowledge, I feel good. I can
share the same with others. I took some online courses while in covid lockdown to learn new things.
I intend to continue learning and developing new knowledge and skills in order to advance my
career.

Judgment

Before making any decision, I check all the facts. This comes after continuous learning. I check all the
facts and let them decide rather than making decision on emotions. Never take decisions based on
others’ opinion. During my college days, there were some rumours in the class about a friend of
mine. I did not believed in those rumours instead I checked all facts and then took a decision
regarding the issue.

Sensitive
I am very sensitive towards others, sometimes people try to be manipulative with me. They
try to take advantage of it, but it helps me to understand other people in a better way and
help them.

Introvert

Being an introvert, it becomes difficult for me to question others at certain moments or

enforce new rules and regulations.

I criticize myself when I make mistakes or things do not go as planned, it helps me not do
such mistakes again in the future.

Q3 Why MBA?

Despite the fact that I have a bachelor's degree in business administration. To be successful in the
highly competitive corporate world, I felt I needed to learn new skills and expand my knowledge.
That's why I decided on an MBA. MBA will help me to improve my qualifications and gain the
necessary skillsets. MBA is ideal for achieving both my short-term goals of gaining the necessary
knowledge in various management domains and my long-term goals. It will assist me in developing
my leadership skills and improving my communication skills. Furthermore, as part of the extensive
MBA program, I will learn how to manage time more efficiently, which is essential for a good
manager.

Studying with inspired and diverse individuals from across the country will allow me to gain a new
perspective and learn from their experiences. Furthermore, I aspire to be a good leader in the
future. MBA programs will provide the necessary understanding of business fundamentals as well as
their application in the real corporate world.

MBA will assist me in expanding my professional network. During my two years of MBA, I will have
the opportunity to network with intelligent and professional people across the country. which I may
not be able to do without an MBA

Aside from that, MBA will help me develop strategic and critical thinking, which is a critical skill for a
manager to have in order to solve problems and taking decisions in the real world.

The MBA provides extensive exposure through intensive classroom learning, peer-to-peer learning,
live projects, internships, case competitions, workshops, experiential learning, and the alumni
network. MBA will help me develop as a person by providing me with the necessary skills and
knowledge, as well as providing me with the motivation I need to challenge myself and grow as a
person.

Q4 Which domain would you want to take up and why?

I would like to take the Human Resource domain. I feel this one would suit me. I like interacting with
people and solving their problems. It is easy for me to relate to this domain. I would like to make my
career In Human resource management and contribute to the corporate world with the same. MBA
will be helpful to me in gaining knowledge about human resource management. It will help me to
develop skills related to the domain. when I was working, I directly interacted with the people and
solved their problems, it gives me the motivation to do more for people. I developed an interest in
human resource management.

Human resource is one of the most important factors in any organization because it enables the
utilization of other resources if we take care of employees, they will produce better results by
working more effectively and efficiently. The quality of products and services will be ensured
automatically. Providing the right environment and solving their problems is the responsibility of
human resource management. Without people, no organization can survive. Managing human
resources is very important in an organization, every person has different traits and different
motivations so the Human resource manager has to pay attention to every employee individually. He
has to assess every individual’s performance and take decisions based on the results.

I want to gain more knowledge and develop skills related to this domain in these two years of MBA
so that in the future I can contribute to an organization in this domain and help the organization to
grow by applying my learnings and skills from my MBA.

Q5 Tell us about any previous employment experience you have.

During the covid pandemic, I helped a family friend to start his business which was a CSC centre. I
got a chance to work in a rural area and worked for customers on ground level and solved their
problems. We started from the scratch. In the beginning, we struggled to gain customers and we
were running the centre at loss, as there were restrictions from the government for covid and due to
competition. Soon we realized that many people do not know about business, so we started to offer
services at a lower price than others to attract more customers.

Gradually customers started coming to us and we started to gain profit. We offered the services at a
very reasonable price compared to other service providers, In fact, we provided free services to
some customers to help them economically as many people lost their work due to covid. which
helped us to gain loyal customers and develop healthy relationships with them. I worked there for
eight months. During this tenure, I provided e-governance services to customers and managed the
entire business by myself. I learned a few things while working at the centre.

I learned how to interact and build good relationships with customers. I learned how to deal and
negotiate with suppliers to reduce the cost of running the centre. I was responsible for running the
business managing customers and day-to-day operations, managing inventory, and marketing the
business. Working at ground level for customers for eight months was a great learning experience
for me. It provided me with the knowledge and skills to handle customers, communicate with them,
and develop a relationship with them.

Q6 Describe your internship experience.

During the pandemic, I applied for an internship in Digital Marketing at Youth Empowerment
Foundation (an NGO). Eventually, I got selected for the same and I got the chance to work with
people from all over India as a team as it was an online internship. I was responsible for content
creation and promoting the same on social media channels. we were promoting how the Youth
Empowerment Foundation is helping needy people in this pandemic so that more people can
connect with the Youth Empowerment Foundation and more people could receive help from the
youth empowerment foundation during the covid pandemic. We assisted the digital marketing team
at Youth Empowerment Foundation in organizing some online events like a painting competition
which was held on world environment day. During this internship at the Youth Empowerment
Foundation, I applied my learnings from graduation about marketing in the real world.

It was a great learning experience working at Youth Empowerment Foundation as a digital marketing
intern. I learned how to promote an organization through various social media channels and how to
increase reach on social media. I also learned how to apply the marking principles in the real world.
The experience I got from the Youth Empowerment foundation will help me in the future to achieve
my goals.

Q7 State your short-term goal (2-5 years)

I have kept my short-term goals fairly simple. My goal within two years from now is to complete my
MBA with good grades. During these two years, I want to learn new skills and gain knowledge about
various management domains, apart from this I am a shy person many times it feels hard to convey
my ideas and views to others during two years of my MBA I want to develop better communication
skills so that I can overcome this hurdle. I want to learn how to manage time and prioritize things
based on their importance. This will help me to develop as a person. In to years of my MBA, I want to
develop critical thinking and analytical skills which will help me to take better decisions in the future.
Apart from this, I want to expand my professional networking which is considered to be one of the
most important things. It will help me to increase my reachability. After completing my MBA I want
to apply all of my learnings from MBA in the corporate world and solve problems. Five years from
now, I see myself leading a team in corporate to solve complex problems and produce the best
results by using my learnings from my MBA. This initial experience in corporate will pave the way for
me to achieve my mid-term and long-term goals. My short-term objective right now is to acquire as
much as possible knowledge about the management and business, and develop skillsets related to
the domain of my choice so that I can perform well in the future in an organization and can help it to
produce good results.

Q8 State your mid-term goal (5-10 years)

My mid-term goal is to apply all the knowledge and skills which I will gain from my MBA in a real
working environment to solve problems. I want to gain real-world experience by working with a
good company. I see myself working in a good company and leading a team of people to achieve
organizational goals by producing good results, This will help me to develop myself as a person.
Since the corporate world is fast-paced to keep up with all the changes one has to learn new things
every time. I will try new things and challenge myself to push the limits. It will help me to adapt to
changing business world. Being adaptive will help me to learn new things.

Although I am growing my professional network right now in the future I see myself connecting with
even more people around the world this will help me to gain and share more knowledge

All these things will help me to develop my skills further and will lay down the road for me to grow
and achieve my long-term goals.

Q9 State your long-term goal (10+ years)

My long-term goal is to enthusiastically join and contribute to a Multinational Corporation as a

representative. My ambition is to have a significant impact in a fast-paced, ever-changing market
and industry, as well as to assist my organization in furthering its improvement and development. I
want to be a good leader who can lead his company to a better future. I also aim to help people to
develop themselves by providing them right opportunities to grow. I see myself leading my
organization to become one of the best in the corporate by adding value to its people and processes.

My long-term goal is to become a good leader, help people within the organization to solve their
problems and help them to grow. The future is unpredictable but I will take every opportunity that
will come to me in the future to grow myself and my company. I will make sure the organization will
grow and have a competitive advantage over competitors.

Q10 Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?

In 10 years from now, I see myself as a successful person and a good leader. My short-term and mid-
term goals will help me to be in this position after 10 years. I see myself solving big problems in the
corporate world and leading people to a better future. I see myself helping other people in the
organization to grow themselves. Ten years from now, I will have some experience working in my
domain I will be using it to improve myself as a leader. I see myself working in a good company and
leading a team of people to achieve organizational goals by producing good results. I will be helping
other people to grow in their careers. I will apply the learnings and skillsets I have gained in ten years
to solve more complex problems in the organization. I see myself as an asset to the company where I
will work in the future. In ten years, I am looking forward to learning and growing with the
organization, sharing knowledge with peers, and learning from them. I will have a good professional
network in every industry in the country.
11. Describe your setbacks and how you overcome them.

One of my biggest setbacks was during the initial days of my under graduation when I joined college
because I had just completed my schooling in Hindi medium from a government school, and when I
joined college for my graduation entire mode of instruction was suddenly changed to English. As a
result, I was not able to catch up with other students in the first semester of my graduation. Many
times I felt left out of the class as I was not able to understand certain things. I was about to opt out
of my graduation but I decided to work hard on my English and put extra effort to improve it. This
helped me to overcome this setback.

After graduation, I started preparing for government exams but I was not able to convert any job in
the initial days, then I decided to write the CAT exam but in I also I failed twice. I was about to give
up, but I decided to give it another try with more hard work, and this time I succeeded.

These are some setbacks I have faced in my life, although these challenges made me give up, fighting
back with more power and not giving up was the key to overcoming them. Lessons learned from
these setback helps me in present and will be helpful in the future.

12. Why should we hire you?

I am confident that I am the best candidate for this position. Not only because I have all of the
necessary skills for this job, but also because I enjoy doing it with more enthusiasm and innovation
than others. I will find ways to advance in this organization by adding value to the job that has been
assigned to me. I will look for opportunities to outperform my peers everywhere, and one day in the

13. How did you manage your time during the COVID lockdown?

Lockdown was a pretty depressing time for all of us, no one was able to go outside of their home.
During this time initial time was very stressful for me, then I decided to do some online certification
to utilize this time to increase my knowledge and skills. I enrolled in the total quality management e-
learning program by tata steel, in this I learned the Importance of daily management what is the
relationship between daily management and policy management, and total productive maintenance.
I also enrolled in the Industry 4.0 e-learning program and learned how digitalization, the Internet of
Things, and cloud computing are transforming the industry as a whole. I also did certification in
career edge from TCSiON to learn about corporate etiquette, soft skills, artificial intelligence, and
telephone etiquette. During the lockdown, I did an internship at Youth Empowerment Foundation as
a digital marketing intern where I got a chance to work with people from all over India as a team. I
was responsible for content creation and promotion of the same. After that, I helped a family friend
to start and run his business the biggest challenge I faced while working there is that the business
was not generating any profits due to covid and competition. But gradually I improved it by building
good relationships with customers and providing them quality services at lower prices which helped
me to make the business profitable. While working there I learned how to interact with customers at
ground level and how to solve their problems. I learned how to run a business in a challenging
situation like lockdown. These learnings will be helpful in the future to overcome problems in my
career.

14. What’s the biggest challenge you have ever overcome?

The biggest challenge I have ever faced was when I started working. It was during the lockdown one
of our family friends started the CSC centre he asked me to join ad start working. I started working
there full-time. In a few days, I realized customers are not coming and the business is running at a
loss, So it was a challenge for me to take it out of that situation and make it profitable. I started by
offering services at lower than market price to attract more customers initially it worked and
customers started coming next challenge was to gain their trust and maintain good relationships
with customer for this I started communicating more to them and solving their problems effectively
and it helped me to bring business to profit. After some time a second covid wave came which
imposed more restrictions on the local market as the markets were opened for only six hours
business again starred going back to the loss and it was another big challenge for me. I decided to
make this time more productive I started providing services to customers online which resulted in
the business growing even more. All these challenges helped me to gain certain skills and learn new
things. I learned how to interact and build relationships with customers, and how to take decisions in
tough situations. I can use these learnings will help in my future to face even more challenging
situations and help me to overcome problems. It will help me to grow in corporate world.
