1.

Introduce yourself
My name is Sanya Dua. I was born, raised and schooled all in Delhi itself. I have had a decent
academic record in school and was an active participant in extra and co-curricular activities too,
ranging from dance, street plays to extempores, debates etc. I was also part of the council twice,
in 8th and 11th standard. I passed class 10th in 2017 with CGPA 10. Afterwards, I decided to take
commerce for my +2 as I felt more inclination towards learning the practicality of business. I
completed class 12th in 2019 with 84.67%. I dropped LSR after getting rank 2 in the entrance
exam for B.El.Ed by Delhi University and took up B.Com Hons form Rajdhani College. I was part
of commerce society and was an executive in the women development cell along with being a
co-editor for our in-house magazine that we started. I have done some internships in college and
handled events as well. I was involved in the organising committee for the annual fest that our
college held after 3 years because of corona.(Thunderstruck). I graduated last year in June with
8.16 cgpa (77.54%).

I dropped LSR after getting rank 2 in the entrance exam for B.El.Ed by Delhi University and took
up B.Com Hons form Rajdhani College because I prioritised course over college and B.Com
Hons would have catered me with the subjects and career direction that I would have liked to
pursue in future.

Besides, I cleared the CA foundation exam in December 2020. I have also interned in HR and BD
domains.

2. What did you do after graduation in these 6-7 months

I had attempted CAT last year with minimal practice when I was midway through my preparation
for CA Inter and scored decently.

So last year after graduation I felt the need to take some time off and align my thoughts with
respect to my career goals. I wanted to think thoroughly about my decision to go for an MBA
since it will have a great impact in the career direction and finances as well. During these months
I volunteered, did some social work, studied what an MBA degree will do for me and then
prepared for the exam.

3. Why IMT?
With an active atmosphere that IMT is known for, I’ll be focusing on developing my analytical,
leadership and communication skills. It would not just offer preparation for entering corporate jobs
but exposure and opportunities too to enter into entrepreneurship. IMT, which holds a prestigious
position in the list of institutes, will be able to provide ample opportunities to interact with people
coming from different walks of life and build relationships which can be valuable in future.

future founders move from ideation to execution.

MarkUp : Marketing society which is a student-run enterprise that helps incorporate a sense of
practicality amidst innovation in aspiring marketers; at the same time, it provides solutions to
corporates.
My objective for the coming years is to gain expertise in the field I choose and progress the
hierarchy of managers of a reputed company and have in-depth knowledge about the industry
and work segment that I step into.

4. Why MBA
Being a daughter to a businessman, I have always had a knack for it and entering corporates has
been something I have looked forward to. During my undergrad, getting involved with my peers,
managing events, studying about the various aspects of business, I was drawn towards an MBA
degree. In addition, an MBA degree at this point of my career will equip me with detailed
knowledge and provide a structured exposure with appropriate feedback from time to time.

5. Why not M.Com?

B.com included subjects related to both management and core accountancy/commerce. Going
for mcom would have meant opting for the core commerce courses which would have offered
related career options. But i felt more drawn towards the management part of it and that is why
MBA.

6. How did Covid impact your life?

Getting past such a horrific period taught a lot of life lessons.
a) Cherishing your family: result of a break from our busy schedules and different
commitments was that it brought me closer to my family. A lot of bonding time made us
understand each other more.
b) Importance of mental health: rising death tolls, siren of each ambulance passing by and
news about someone or the other health condition affected the mental health and that is
when its well being felt crucial and the relief breaks provide.
c) Kindness still persists: faith in humanity got restored to an extent after watching everyone
helping everyone whether it be through monetary means, leads, shelter, medical
treatments, food or just support.

7. How did you utilise your time during lockdown?

Some time went into adjustments with the online shift of classes and assignments.I did some
internships and volunteering in this period. I also attempted the CA Foundation exam. Besides, I
watched some movies and shows and read books too.

8. Advantages and disadvantages of lockdown due to Covid 19

Advantages
a) Nature got some time off from exploitation for rejuvenation
b) More focus on health and hygiene
c) Time off from hectic life and reflecting upon life opportunity

Disadvantages
a) Affected every household’s finances and thereby, the economy
b) health deterioration because of isolation and prevailing conditions
c) Personally, our education was affected a lot. We could have got much more exposure.

9. Why not CA/CFA?

Going for CA/CFA would mean a knack for hardcore finance, taxation or accounting, but I don’t
find myself fitting in there. I am more of a pragmatic person who likes interactions, leading people
and being creative.

10. Why not experience first

I cannot certainly say that once I enter that earning situation, I’ll be able to drive myself out of it
because one certainly cannot foresee things and the situations that might come up. As per the
current scenario, going for an MBA is the best option and I would like to take it. I would like to be
theoretically prepared before I enter a job so that I can cope up with the challenges that it will
bring along.

11. Any particular domain

Since I have no industry experience and very little knowledge about the specialisations, I have yet
not decided upon mine. I would like to study them in depth first and then figure out along the
course what works for me.

12. Three words that describe you

Pragmatic
Leader
Versatile

13. Strengths
Time Management: In the 6th semester of my graduation, I was occupied with academics since
the college reopened and there was added pressure, along with managing society work,
managing the editorial team and doing my part in the fest organisation as well.

Negotiation skills: I have mediated the arguments that broke out between our team and was often
approached by my juniors to resolve them.

Versatility: Even though I was heading the event management team, I was resourceful wherever
the need arose, from managing my peers to content writing to handling social media and figuring
out ways to work in a tight budget too.

14. Weakness
Too critical of myself: I am not satisfied with my work until every ounce of it is perfect.

Empathize easily: Often empathizing with someone’s need doesn’t go in my favour a lot of times.

15. Back up plan if not selected

I have made up my mind towards MBA and I am determined about it. I would go for a job if not
selected, work for a few months to get some experience and will sit for the exam again.

16. Why should we select you? What is the best quality you have?
I have worked on myself in acquiring skills and improving myself so that I can present myself
before you and I have a vision for myself where I am responsible and accountable for an
esteemed organisation. An MBA will be the first stepping stone in that process.

17. What internships have you done and what have you learned from them?
.
18. Why IMT?
The teaching pedagogy and reputation of the college is very impressive. The vision of IMT -
‘contribution in grooming leadership, entrepreneurial talent and research’ resonates with my
outlook of attaining finesse and honing interpersonal skills since exposure to an entrepreneurial
environment will make one understand the minutest details of running a business. Committees
like BGS, E-Cell, and Markup at IMT will prove to be a great source of academic excellence.
