II. Answer the question in not less than ten sentences.
1) In Berne’s ego states, which of the three: parent, adult, or child, dominates in your
current self? Relate an experience where you manifest the most of the
characteristics of having a parent, adult, or child ego state.
People exhibit all three ego states. One adapts and displays a specific ego in each
situation.
Child ego is more of a refuge or coping mechanism that may or may not be rational, but
it keeps you going.
A parent ego is a set of beliefs and rules instilled in you as a result of your upbringing.
The adult ego is a hazy amalgamation of the preceding two egos and the external
environment.
When I saw a hurt child at the park, I displayed a Parent Ego state by saying things like,
"Don't worry, it'll go away." "When you stop crying, you'll notice it's a small cut." These
are the terms that were used.
