Instruction: 

Create a list of 20 popular new lingos or expressions used by VSU Students and
Gen Z . Arrange the words or phrases on your list alphabetically. Ten of these expressions
should be used uniquely by Viscans.

1. Borge
Meaning: Older men, Senior students or men that are merchant.
Origin: The name came from a merchant man who used to sell porridge inside VSU.
However, the man, unfortunately died and since then students call any merchant man,
Borge.
Example: Borge! Papalita ko ug landang, salamat.

2. Shargao 
Meaning: A place to drink or party.
Origin:
Example: Jade was late since she had way to many drink in Shargao.

3. Lemon
Meaning: It means agree.
Origin: Lemon in Cebuano means agri that sounds the same as the word, agree. So
when someone says, “Lemon”, it means they agree.
Example: Do you agree? Yes, lemon!

4. Hydro
Meaning: Cold spring
Origin:
Example: We bath at Hydro.

5. Crystal
Meaning: Clear or understood
Origin: Crystals are depicted as clear objects. Thus, it is used to say that everything is
clear.
Example: Are the instructions clear
? Crystal!

6. Fr Fr
Meaning: For real
Origin:
Example:

7. Pur
Meaning: Slay queen
Origin: Pur came from the sound cats make and cats are seen or depicted as
sophisticated with posture, their walks and how they groom themselves. Thus, people
use it to say. “You slay or look good like cats do” 
Example: Purr! That outfit looks stunning on you, queen!

8. Market - instead of merkado as should be called, VSU students call it market. 


Meaning: Place that sells produce.
Origin: Cebuano calls market, mercado, However, they call the place market.
Example: Let’s eat at the Market.

9. Ror –
Meaning: Rawr means “I love you” in dinosaur. This expression is used as a way of
expressing affection or admiration without having to directly state emotions or
vulnerability.
Origin: From Dinosaurs
Example: Your outfit looks good on you! Rawr!
 
10. Fire (Payr) - You are fine or looking or doing good
Meaning:
Origin: Fire are generally known as hot, therefore when people says fire to another,
they meant that they look good or hot.
Example: Woah! That OOTD is fire, dude!

11. Lowkey
Meaning: Humble
Origin:
Example: She’s lowkey with her private life, especially love life.

12. Chowking
Meaning: Computer Science building which is an orange-colored building
Origin: ComSci building looks like a Chowking building thus, students call it
Chowking
Example: The library is right next to Chowking.
 
13. Mitot 
Meaning: Gift or bring home present.
Origin: When a person is away and suddenly thought of you, they would go out their
way to buy presents or pasalubong. Thus, when you receive such gist, its like your
giver is saying, “ME THOUGHT of you” (an improper way of saying, I thought of
you)
Example: You’re in France? Don’t forget my mitot.

Meaning:

16. Tupas 
Meaning: Tired
Origin:
Example: I’m gi-tupas na gyud. Ganina lang ko nilakaway.
17. Diskagay
Meaning: Discourage
Origin:
Example: Makadiskagay man ning Mathematics.
 
18. Lods 
Meaning: Idol
Origin: It came from the reversed word of idol, which is lodi. Technically, it is the
cooler version of the word.
Example: Lods, where were you?

Meaning:

Meaning:

21. Kalog
Meaning: (adjective) Jolly or fun to be with
Origin:
Example: Kalog kayo si Maeghan. Lingaw kayo kauban!
 
22. Cheezy -KJ
Meaning:

23. George
Meaning: Weird or funny.
Origin: It came from the person named, George, from a comedy movie. George is a
man that lives in the jungle and he acts weirdly.
Example: That was such a George behaviour.

Meaning: To be Announced however Seniors use it to confuse freshmen in VSU.
