My name is Shelli Post and I am writing to be considered for a student teacher candidate in your
district. I am a fourth-year student at Dakota State University majoring in Elementary and
Special Education. I am also getting a minor in Reading. I am excited to begin student teaching
as a final part of my teacher preparation program.

My educational philosophy, teaching skills, and experience have prepared me to be an excellent

student teacher for your district. I have a strong knowledge of the elementary content areas and
pedagogical practices that are proven to be effective with elementary students. In addition to that,
I have a strong knowledge of all of the disabilities that can affect learning and strategies that are
proven to be effective for each kind of learning need in K-12 students. I have strengths in
organization and innovation. I am passionate about meeting the needs of all students and
nurturing their holistic growth. My coursework at DSU has prepared me to give students a desire
for lifelong learning as I provide them with a foundational understanding of the concepts in each
content area supplemented by appropriate technology integration, literacy, and any learning
supports for students with special learning needs.
