I am writing to be considered as a candidate for a teaching position at your school district. I am
teaching certification in Early Childhood Education from SDSU, along with an Elementary
Education certification that I will receive from Dakota State University. I am also minoring in
Human Development and Family studies. I believe that I would be a great addition to your
school district as I am devoted to education and have substantial experience working with
children.
The skills I have developed through my educational experiences, teaching philosophy, and
coursework have all prepared me to be a phenomenal teacher in your district. During my
undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University, I took a multitude of courses in
instructional methods of language arts, math, science, and social studies, classroom
management, child development, differentiation techniques in special education, assessment
and curriculum, parent-teacher relationships, and documentation. I excel in my leadership
abilities, organizational skills, and collaboration qualities. My current leadership roles at SDSU
include being the President of the Association for the Education of Young Children, a member
of Pinky Swear, and a member of State-a-Thon. In addition to my coursework and engagement
on campus, I participated in numerous field experiences including: assistant teaching in a three
and four-year-old classroom, student teaching in a kindergarten classroom, and practicum
experiences in a middle school science classroom and 1st-grade classroom. I am currently
student teaching in a fourth-grade science classroom at Camelot Intermediate School in
Brookings, SD.

I would be honored to be considered as a teacher candidate in your district. My experiences and

coursework through both SDSU and DSU have prepared me to foster a love for learning and
instructing foundational skills in a variety of subjects for students. I am also interested in
joining extracurricular activities and organizations within your district to develop close
