The given pie charts compare six regions in terms of the proportion of water used for different purposes.

Overall, in developing regions, most water was used for the development of agriculture, followed by
water used for industrial and domestic purposes, whereas in technologically advanced societies, more
water was used for industrial purposes, the percentage of water used in houses were also insignificant.

Starting with the patterns of water usage in developing regions, agriculture dominated the ranking,
which accounted for more than 80% of that. While the percentage of water used for domestic ranked
second with 19%, 9% and 7% in South America, Africa and Central Asia, respectively, but in South East
Asia, 7% of water was attributed to developing domestically. The average figure for water used for
industrial purposes was 8,5% for each region.

Turning to the advanced societies, 53% of water was allocated for industrial developments in Europe
whereas 48% of that in North America. The percentage of water used for agricultural purposes in Europe
and North America came a second with 32% and 39%, respectively. The figures for water used for
domestic purposes in Europe and North America marked nearly similar quantities, at 15% and 13% for
each.
