1. WHAT IS A PYROMETER? ITS APPLICATIONS.

= A pyrometer is a noncontact device and it is also known as a radiation

thermometer. The main function of this instrument is to detect the surface
temperature of an object by measuring the temperature of the electromagnetic
radiation generated from the object.

2. DISCUSS THE OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF A PLATINUM RESISTANCE

THERMOMETER.

= t works on the principle that the resistance of platinum changes with the
change of temperature. The thermometer measures the temperature over the
range of 200°C to1200°C. The platinum is an unreactive metal and can easily
be drawn into fine wires.
