COMMUNICATION
What do you know about
communication?
Why do you think
communication is important?
What would our life and world
be without communication?
COMMUNICATION ▪ comes from the two Latin words
“communis” (noun) which means
common, communality or sharing and
“communicare” (verb) which means to
make something common
▪ from the viewpoint of etymological
depth, communication refers to sharing
of something – information, knowledge,
or meaning
COMMUNICATION is a process of
exchanging information, sharing of
thoughts or opinions and ideas, beliefs,
feelings or emotions with another
person or group of persons through
verbal (written or spoken words), and
non-verbal (body language) to achieve a
particular goal or purpose.
Some examples are:
1. face-to-face interaction
2. telephone conversation
3. group discussions
4. class recitation
5. talking to friends
6. sending letters, emails, chat/text messages to
others
6. expressing your emotions and feelings to
someone
7. giving and receiving instructions
When can we say that
COMMUNICATION is effective?
We can say that communication
is effective when the receiver
understands our message that
we intend them to understand.
