ACTIVITY DESIGN

I. “BARANGAY CHILDREN’S CONGRESS 2022”

II. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE
As a State Party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Davao City is
committed to promote, protect and fulfil the rights of the child to a meaningful
participation in all government undertakings where children’s concerns including the
right are at stake. This obligation extends to child-focused non-government organizations,
institutions, schools, the civil society and people’s organization.

As mandated by the Children’s Welfare Code, as amended and inspired by the UN

Convention on the Rights of the Child, Child 21 and other principles and policies for the
protection and full development of the children, the annual Children’s Congress is a
gathering of the children coming from different sectors. This activity allows them to
freely express their views, insights and decisions on different issues and concerns
besetting them. And to gain more participation from the children sector, the conduct of
BARANGAY CHILDREN’S CONGRESS before the City-Wide Children’s Congress is
encouraged.

II. OBJECTIVES
1. To assess the two (2) barangay children’s statements made from 2016 to
2017 (Actions taken by the barangay in terms of programs, services or
policies) and come-up with a Barangay Children’s Statement 2022.
2. To create and organize Brgy. Children’s Association
