Q. Explain why Suresh not Anil should make the selection decision ?

Answer :

The principle of line and staff relationships require that after a candidate has been okayed by the HR
department, he should be handed over to the supervisor concerned for acceptance or rejection. Here
Anilji is HR director, and the requirement is for line supervisor in production department. So as per the
principle the candidate to be handed over to production department in-charge (Suresh) for selection
after okayed by HR department.

Anilji being a HR person can judge the candidate’s achievement, aptitude, personality etc, he does not
judge the technicalities of the job and also minute factors of job situations , on the other hand Suresh is
production manager and he has a lot of experience in the same field and he knows how to test the
candidate for supervisory level.
