Activity: WHEN MYTHICAL CREATURES MEET SCIENCE: YEAR 2

An activity exclusive to STEM students where they showcase their creativity to portray a Philippine Mythological
Creature, then incorporating it with a Scientific principle being assigned.

Guidelines/Mechanics:

1. This competition is exclusive to all STEM enrollees of Senior High School at Immaculada Concepcion College
A.Y. 2022 – 2023.
2. Each section is tasked to dress a random Philippine Mythological Creature and a Scientific principle best
incorporated to it. Here are the following entries:

3 Diwata Nature conservation
4 Mangkukulam Basic Principles in Chemistry
5 Kapre Melanism and Gigantism
6 Tiyanak Gestation
7 Dwende Dwarfism
8 Tikbalang Genetic engineering
9 Sigbin Mutation
10 White Lady Albinism
11 Engkanto Nature Conservation
12 Nuno sa Punso Land Conservation
13 Sirena Chimerism
14 Berbroka Water Conservation
15 Bebalang Acoustics
16 Batibat Polysomnography

3. Class advisers, together with their Strand coordinator shall organize a meeting for Philippine Mythological
Creature assignment. Afterwards, assigned creature will be disseminated to their respective class sections.
4. Each section should accomplish the following:
a. A single photo of their portrayed creature
b. A caption that explains the incorporation of scientific principle to the assigned creature
5. Their chosen representative should dress a costume of the assigned creature to them. The use of photo editing and
manipulation apps or software to enhance their entry is allowed for as long as the result doesn’t cover the
representative’s identification.
6. The caption’s language may be in English or Tagalog. There will be no required caption length.
7. Submit entries to your adviser’s institutional Gmail address until October 29, 2022 (Saturday). Late entries are
disqualified.
8. All sections are required to submit their entries. Otherwise, corresponding actions shall be at the discretion by the
STEM Strand Coordinator.
9. All entries shall be posted on Stempire Alliance Facebook Page on October 30, 2022, at 12:00pm.
10. Earn CARE REACTIONS to accumulate votes for Overall impact (Popularity). Voting duration will last on
November 1, 2022, at (12:00pm). Refer to the Pointing System given below:

12. All scores from the judges and popularity votes will be tabulated and ranked. The top five (5) groups that
garnered the highest final average score shall be recognized:
 First place – Mystery envelope with certificate of recognition
 Second place – Mystery envelope with certificate of recognition
 Third place – Mystery envelope with certificate of recognition
 Fourth place – Mystery envelope with certificate of recognition
 Fifth place – Mystery envelope with certificate of recognition

13. Certificates of appreciation will be given to all other participants.
