HOW TO USE DIS(DTC) / DCS

C H E C K For more details on DIS(DTC)/DCS, see “9.4 How to Analyze

P O IN T DIS(DTC)/DCS” (p.1226).

3 sets of 18 digits (9 octets) number are shown below.
See the 2nd and 3rd numbers from the left when sending, the 1st and 3rd num-
bers when receiving.
Sample Example)
Diagnosing code 010500020301000500 070502020301000503 010500020301000000
Receiver’s receiving
Sending Disabled Actual
capability
Type communication mode
Own receiving (final page)
Receiving Disabled
capability

When sending: Determines the communication mode by finding the greatest

common divisor of “receiver’s receiving capability” and own sending capabil-
ity, then performs sending.
When receiving: Notifies the “own receiving capability” to the receiver. The
receiver determines the communication mode by finding the greatest common
divisor of own sending capability and sender’s receiving capability, then per-
forms sending.
Example) When the resolution of receiving capability is “Normal/Fine” in
receiver’s device, even if the sending resolution is set to “S-Fine” in sender’s
device, the communication mode converts the resolution to “Fine”, then sends
a fax.

Check the code with the Diagnosing code list by 2 digits (1 octets).
Sample example) See “Receiver’s receiving capability = 070502020301000503”, “Actual
communication mode (final page) = 010500020301000000” in the above sample;

Sending or Receiving direction for signals. This differs from that of the
sending or receiving in fax communication.
Direction When sending a fax, signals (including image signal) and response signal
become sending and receiving respectively. These are reversed when
receiving a fax.
Defined in the first 2 digits or 4 digits of data in the FCF (Facsimile
Command/ Control Field).
Response Name See “1.4.5.2 Abbreviation list of fax communication (fax recommendation
T.30)”.
Data is composed of FCF (Facsimile Control Field) and FIF (Facsimile

The first 2 digits (8 bits) or 4 digits (16 bits) stands for FCF, the latter
means FIF.

A4/B4/A3 “A4” “A4/B4”: When “B4/A3” “A3” paper is enabled in fax

Used to fix paper width for receiving fax regardless of the paper
size loaded in the product. When it is changed, the receiving
paper width capability bit of the DIS transmitted when receiving
a incoming call is changed.

A4 Usage example)
A4/B4  When sending a A3/B4 document, the sender’s product
091 RX PAPER WIDTH Paper width for receiving Auto
A4/B4/A3 catches the receiver’s capability bit and then decides to send
Auto it in an A3/B4 width or a reduced size. When the capability
bit is A4, reduces/cuts the size into A4 before sending.
 Used in such cases that although A3/B4 paper is not loaded in
the product, it is needed to receive a fax with A3/B4 and save/
forward it to an external memory as an A3/B4 size of electric
data, or perform poster print in a full size with proxy output.
When the received page length exceeds this value, forcibly
092 RX MAX LENGTH Page length for receiving 1 to 65536 650 mm
finishes the receiving.
