1. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa advises the owner of this Ifa to offer ebo so that the wicked
people would not act as a stumbling block to his Ire.

Meaning:
“Idin Kulu
Oye Kulu
Cast Ifa for Ogongo (Dung-hill worm)
When she was lamenting for being childless
She was advised to offer ebo
The people of Ipo and Ofa towns
Whoever is advised to offer ebo
Let him comply”.
2. Ire Omo, child bearing, Ifa advises the person to offer ebo and feed Gelede (a
kind of Egungun).
Ifa says there is a particular annual festival usually celebrated in his/her
community. He/She should go and celebrate it.
Ebo: 2 Rams (Agbo), Beans Cake (Akara), Beans pudding (Oole), Pigeon
(Eyele), Rooster (Akuko), Palm Oil (Epo) and Money.
After ebo, he/she should feed Egungun with one Ram, Akara, Oole, Eko
(cold corn meal).
Story:
The people of Egbado (Now Yewa) in the Southern part of Nigeria found
themselves wanting for child bearing. They consulted Ifa, Ifa advised
them to offer ebo, and they should go back to feed their ancestral spirit
which they have neglected.
They complied and begot many children thereafter.
3. Ifa advises the owner of this Ifa that all is coming to be well with him/her, the
person should not mind the problem he/she is facing now, and that the end
justify the means.
Meaning:
“It is with enthusiasm that the youth learns Ifa
Youth should not struggle with elders on share of sacrificial boot
So that he may be vast in his training
This was the Ifa’s proclamation for the people of Idi-Yeku
When they were in wants
They were advised to make ebo
They complied
Today’s tribulation of Omo Awo (Ifa student)
Ifa is coming to repay him abundantly
The excrement of the horse doing on each other”.
Story:
The people of Idin-Yeku were facing the hardship as a result of their
unholy act when all actions to alleviate their hardship failed. They went
for Ifa consultation. Ifa asked them to make ebo and they should not
learn Ifa for their selfish gain but for the purpose of humanity and it is Ifa
that blesses Omo awo.
4. Ifa advises the owner of this Odu to feed Obatala for steady and unfettered
progress. Ifa says that as soon as he propitiates Obatala, the stumbling block
to his progress will be removed by Obatala.
Ifa says this person or people will feed Obatala with Etu (guinea fowl), Igbin
(Snail) 16, Efun (Native white chalk) 16, Ori (Shea butter), White Cloth. They
will make pounded yam, and cook the soup with the guinea fowl and egusi itoo
(melon). It is the stream water that will be used to cook the soup.
The person is advised to be wearing white apparel.
Ebo: Etu (Guinea fowl) 4, Egusi itoo (melon), Efun (Native white chalk)
Owo (Money)

Ewa ba ni jebutu aje gbururu”.
Meaning:
“Maggot is small
Fog clears gragually
This was Ifa cast for Oosa-Nla Oseremagbo
When he was going to the land of bliss (where he would be adored)
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied”.
Story:
Obatala was asked by Olodumare to come and inhabit this world. He
sought Ifa’s advice. He was told to offer ebo and feed His Ori. Obatala
complied, and he was adored by many people.
5. Ifa advises a woman closer to the owner of this Ifa, she may be a wife,
daughter, sister, who has been having miscarriage, to make ebo and feed Ifa
with Hen, Rats and fish. And feed Obatala also with Native white chalk, Shea-
butter and Snail. This snail must be placed by the side of Obatala a day before
it will be served to Obatala. Ise Ifa (Ifa medicine) one of the Igbin will now be
cooked with Egbo jokoje.
Note that, it must be grounded on grinding stone and it must be grounded while
the grounder sits on the bare floor.

Meaning:
“Idin yee the sage of Eku (rat)
Cast Ifa for Eku
Who will be having precarious miscarriage
It was asked to make ebo
He complied
Not too long, not too far
Eku, rat was blessed with many children”.
Story:
Eku, rat was having miscarriages all the time. This made Eku to seek Ifa
divination and Eku was advised to make ebo. The Babalawo performed
the ebo for Eku and fed Ifa and Obatala. Thereafter, Eku was given anti-
miscarriage medicine. This stopped the miscarriage for Eku. Then it
became blessed with children.
6. Ifa advises this person to make ebo and be watchful, so that his/her skin or
complexion may not be destroyed.

Dia fun Aparo
Ti nlo soko alero lodun
Won ni ko rubo Ija Oogun
Iworosope, eni gbebo nibe ko sebo”.
Meaning:
“Maggot walks swiftly
This was the Ifa cast Ifa for Aparo (patridge)
Who was going to its yearly farming expedition
He was asked to make ebo
He did not
Alas, my people whoever advised to make ebo
Let that person comply”.
Story:
Aparo, Patridge (personified) went to seek Ifa divination, as his usual
annual practice. The Babalawo told Aparo to make ebo so that enemies
could not destroy its complexion. Aparo, since it is both full refused to
make ebo and when it got to the farm, the white feather turned to brown.
Odi-Iwori
1. Ifa foresees good home and surprised favour for the owner of this Ifa. Ifa
warns the person that his/her business must be the one that will stay in one
place but not to be moving around.
Ebo: 2 He-goats – One for ebo with Pigeon and money. The person will feed
Esu with the second he-goat.
“Idin gbaagba
Iwori gbaagba
Adodo gbangba lorun adikaro
Adikaro gbangba lorun adodo
Adodo ko wo
Adikaro o sokale
Dia fun Orunlojo Ero

Dia fun Onibode Ajirimogun (Esu)

Meaning:
“Idin dwells on closely
Iwori dwells on closely
Conical clung firmly on the neck of message carrier
Message carrier clung on conical shape
Conical shape did not fall
Yet, message carrier refused to come down
This was the message of Ifa for the passengers
When they were descending from heaven
Also declared same message for Ajirimogun (Esu)
Who will stay in one place
And receive a multiple blessings”.
Story:
The heavenly beings that were coming from heaven come to this earth
to transact their businesses and go back to heaven. This was their
usual practice everyday.
But Esu refused to go back to heaven, and because He, Esu had
consulted Ifa, Ifa has told Him not to be going and coming as other
beings. He complied and he became prosperous.
2. Ifa foresees ire. Ifa says the person for whom this Odu is revealed should be
seeking Ifa’s advice at all times. Ifa says the more this person embraces Ifa so
also Ifa will stand by the him.
Ebo: 2 roosters, 2 pigeons, money. Ifa: Goat, Hen, 4 Rats, 4 Fish

Meaning:
“Idin serves me
Iwori serves me
If you fail to serve me
I will back off from you
These were the Ifa message to Orunmila
When Baba will save the entire family of the devotee
It is Alade Ewi we will serve
Eku akosin, if is Ifa we will serve
Eku akosin (a kind of rat)”
Story:
Orunmila asked His Akapo (devotee) to serve Him with his entire family.
This is because it was only Akapo that used to serve Ifa, leaving his
entire family to serve other Orisa. This, Orunmila was annoyed with
Akapo, so when Akapo saw that he was facing problem, Ifa told him to
go with his entire family before Ifa and make appeasement and to
always serve Him. This they did and became blessed.
3. Ifa says this person wants to travel. If Opele was used to divine with this Odu
revealed and Opele says no to that journey, it should not be regarded. The
person should verify with Ikin before going to wherever he/she wants to go, it is
likely that the journey be successful. He/She shall succeed. This also means
that there is somebody closer to this person who should be taken care of.
Opele: They should use Ikin to know what to feed the Opele with.

Meaning:
“Idin gets prepared
Iwori looks unconcerned
If one’s master is getting prepared
The slave gets ready with bunched cloth (for load carrying)
This was the Ifa for Orunmila
When Baba wanted to travel abroad
Opele said He should not go
Baba embarked on the journey
He succeeded over there
He went well
And came back well
He said there is nothing harmful over there
Only that Opele was hungry”
Story:
Orunmila wanted to embark on a journey abroad. He use Opele to
inquire if the journey will be successful. Opele said He should not go.
Baba went and became prosperous at the place.
The wives and children that were afraid based on what Opele said asked
Baba how He was able to make it. Baba told them that Opele was only
hungry when it said so.
Ifa says this person should not starve anybody around him or her.
4. Ifa warns a sickler beside the owner of this Ifa. If it is the owner of this Ifa that is
sick, Ifa says the person should make ebo and feed the Oosa that is
responsible for his illness.
The ailment is not a bedridden one, but the person is not really healthy.
Story:
Bamgbala who happened to be a fat big person, surprisingly became
thin. He has used all the available medical means, all to no avail. He
went for Ifa divination, it was then that Bamgbala was told to go back to
Oosa-Nla, he has forsaken. To propitiate the deity so that he would be
healthy again and regain his normal stature. He did as instructed and
became well after.
Otura – Owonrin
(Otura Meele)
1. Ifa asks the owner of this Ifa to make ebo to know which path to follow in life.
Ifa says he/she will travel; he/she should not procastinate. He/She should be
doing favour to people at all times. They will in turn show him/her how to forge
ahead and become successful in life.

Meaning:
A drop was sent down sluggishly (alia of Awo)

When Ifa was descending from Heaven to Earth
He was asked to make ebo
He complied
Awurebe kindly show me the way
I do not know way.
Story:
All the Irunmole were assigned to perform roles/jobs in this world. They
all failed. Because of their failure, Orunmila went to seek Ifa divination
from Afakale Iogbologbo. He was told to make ebo and do favour to
whomever He meet along the way. He was told that the failure of others
was because of their inability to do favour to other people. As He was
coming, He met Awurebe the gate-man. He donated part of the money,
He used as ebo and gave it to Esu. Esu shows Him the way and he
became successful in task given to by Olodumare.
2. Ifa says you should not worry much about your problems. The problems are as
good as solved.
Meaning:
A ram beckons steadily
When it wants to fight (alias of Awo)
Cast Ifa for Alaketu
Who has boil at his back
And call it a hunch
He was asked to make ebo
He complied
I am now relieved, Alaketu
My boil is now released”
Story:
Alaketu has a boil that failed to release its pus. This made it worrisome
for Alaketu, and then sought Ifa divination. He was told that, it was just a
boil, nothing else, and it will soon release pus. He complied with all the
necessary advice. And it did release the pus. And he was happy and
relieved.
3. Ifa says this person’s business is to stay in one place and be prosperous. The
person should not be moving round.
Meaning:
“A long straight road (Alias)
Cast Ifa for Ogbomeele (lazy person)
Who will be at one place to receive unexpected
good fortune early in the morning
And still cry for wants
He was advised to make ebo
He complied
Come and see what Imele does
Imele stylishly become wealthy and prosperous
Imele.
Story:
Ogbomeele went for Ifa divination and Ifa told him that he is going to be
a Babalawo, and it is from this profession that he will prosper. He
complied. He now sing around for people to see the work of Imele, that
is to say that he became prosperous without hustling for business here
and there but by staying in one place.
4. Ifa says this person should be thanking Ifa always. The person should be
gratitude to Ifa at all cost no matter the condition. It is while doing this that Ifa
will bless the person more and more.
Meaning:
“A big round tree with hole inside look like the agbaa drums
Cast Ifa divination for Okere (squirrel)
The son of Olokun
When he was crying for wants
He was asked to make ebo
He complied
And thank Ifa always
He complied
He kept thanking Ifa always”.
Ose – Olosun (Ose Atiata, Ose Atioro)
1. Ifa says that a particular lady should get married as soon as possible that he
goodies await her at her spouse’s home. She should leave her father’s house
and proceed henceforth to her husband’s house. Ifa foresees goodies for her
there.
“Ose ro

Meaning:
“Ose ro )

Who was going to her husband’s house
Here goes the newly wedded wife
Prosperity goes along with you
The newly wedded wife”.
2. Ifa says that this person should offer ebo against the wrath of the witches.
He/She should pray against their unexpected attack which is looming.
Ebo: He goat, 6 bottles of palm-oil, 4 big rats, Kola, money, 2 big earthen
plates. One for Ipese of big rats, while the second one for ipese of he-
goat.

Meaning:
“Ose ro ) aliases

They both cast Ifa for the people of Liki land
When the witches suddently attacked them in their homes
They were adviced to offer ebo
Not too long, not too far
Come and meet us in triumphat victory”.
3. Ifa says they should propitiate eegun (ancestral spirits). They person wants to
embark on something, he should feed eegun so as to achieve success in it.
The endeavour will surely become successful.
Ebo: 2 Rams, Money. 1 ram for ebo while the other for Eegun.
Meaning:
You cast Ose Olosun on the ground
But you were looking up in vain
This was the Ifa cast for Eegun
When going to dance astonishingly under Odan tree
Not too long, not too far
Come and meet us in abundant blessing”.
4. This person should propitiate Aje deity and possibly and keep at home for
financial success and stability. Ifa says that he does not have financial stability
and is always in want of money.

12. Ifa yoo se aponle fun onifa yii, yoo di eni ori ite. Sugbon ko ni wale mo to ba ti

14. Ifa ni ki o rubo, ki o ma ba jin sofin aye, Ifa so awon ti won fe mu po nibe. Ko
rubo, ko si ma je eja mo. Obuko, ki o bo ori re daadaa.
15. Ire Obinrin, Ire Omo. Ko bo eegun, ko bo egbe. Ko si ma lo aso daso fun
Babalawo.

He was advised to offer ebo.
2. Ifa foresees abundant wealth for this person. He should offer ebo with pigeon.

3. Ifa foresees Ire of childbearing. He/She should offer a pot and hen for ebo.

4. The person for whom this odu is revealed should offer ebo in order to see the
wrath of the wicked people. He should offer cane for ebo so that he would not
be flogged spiritually in his sleep.

Meaning:
“Osa se, O sa se (alias)

They were advised to offer ebo
So that their punishment will not be given to the people of the
underworld

Whoever is advised to offer ebo should comply”.

Ose-Idi
1. The person for whom this Odu is revealed should offer ebo so that he does
not lose his sexual organ or his reproductive cells. Otherwise he will not be
able to procreate.
Ebo: He-goat

Ti yoo ma redi ofurufu
Gbuduala nredii ofurufu ni
Ko lee bimo”.
Meaning:
“O se nidii (it breaks down below)
O run nidi (it shatters down below)
This was the Ifa cast for Gbudu ala
Who would be having sexual intercourse in vain
Gbudu is doing that in vain
But cannot procreate”.
2. Ifa is the saviour of this person. He should put his trust in Ifa. He should also
propitiate Ifa.

Ona gbororo
Awo Olomo lo dia fun Olomo
Olomo ntorun bo waye
Ki ni mo nuu sorun mi o olomo
Eku (etc) ni mo mu sorun mi olomo
Orun mi, Orun aiku”.
Meaning:
“The vast expanse of the space (alias)
The long smooth road
They both cast Ifa for Olomo
When coming from heaven to earth
He was advised to offer ebo
What was it that I used to save myself
Rat and fish are what I used
My life is a life of longevity”.
3. Ifa says that a pregnant woman should offer ebo against the witches. They
have met over her with regard to her childbirth. She should offer ebo to prevent
death at childbirth and to make her deliver safely.

The pigeon refused to eat
When a yam flour was also presented to the Pigeon

The one who pursues elephant in the forest”.
4. Ifa says he should offer ebo for long life, so that he does not die prematurely.
Ebo: He-goat
Meaning:
“Ase laseedii (alias)

Osunfunleyo, wife of Agbonniregun was very worried for not getting
pregnant at the right time.This made her to seek Ifa divination,she was
advised to make ebo and relax her anxiety.It was this anxiety that was
preventing from getting pregnant at the right time.She complied. Later
on, she became pregnant and was blessed with children.
3. Ifa says someone has offended some other peson,this has made the person to
be having nightmares.The entire family or community in which this person
belongs should offer ebo together with the person in order to avoid reprisal
attack which may affect every body.

Story:
Eyele met Iku on the way, but Iku commited a mistake towards Eyele.Iku then
immediately begged Eyele but instead she started hurling insults on Iku to
extent that Iku got annoyed and decided to show the type of person he was to
Eyele. As a result Eyele started having nightmares persistently. She consulted
Ifa and was told that she had offended somebody more powerful than she was
as a result of her unguarded utterances.She was advised to offer ebo and was
given some bits of the prepared osun that was used for the ebo to rub on leg
every evening along with other members of her family. This, Eyele did together
with her family. When Iku came in the midnight to kill her, Iku saw that
everybody had their legs painted red, so he couldn’t identify Eyele amongst
them. Iku then left with the feeling that that was not Eyele’s house.
4. Ifa advises this person to offer ebo and feed Sango deity.This Deity is in the

Story:
Baale happened to be having nightmares all the time. He then went to
his awo to inquire what the problem was. The awo divined and told him
to offer ebo and to feed Egungun so that he could overcome the
nightmares and be able to live long.
2. This person needs to do Ifa initiation in order to put an end to her child’s infant
mortality syndrome.Ifa says there is a woman tha have been suffering from a
child’s born to die syndrome(abiku). She should make ebo and the awo should
do an herbal/medicinal incision round her ankles.if these are done then the

Story:
Hen had always been having her chickens been killed whenever they
were trampled upon. As a result, she went to a babalawo to divine and
possibly know why it was so. She was advised to make ebo and to have
incisions round the wrist of her leg. She did as directed and since then
onwards her chickens had survived.
2. Ifa foresees wealth for the owner of this Ifa. He/she should offer ebo and to
feed Ifa.
Meaning:
“Today, here come the people of iyote
Tommorow, here come the people of iyote
Everyday, here come the people of iyote
The coconut with its rough membrane
This was the Ifa cast for Orunmila
When going to iyote town

Story:
Orunmila propagating Ifa messages to a town known as Iyote. He made
a reading. He was told that he will be prosperous in the city. He
prospered.
3. Ifa warns a woman to watch her uttterances. She should be grateful to people.
She is presently pregnant, she should feed Ibeji deity. Ifa says a man make
should ebo because of his wife and feed Ogun. Ifa says, the secret of those
that were ruining the owner of this Ifa shall be revealed. He should make ebo
and feed Esu.
Meaning:
“Good words beget peace
Bad words beget war
These were the Ifa messages for female Aaya - a kind of monkey
And male Aaya - a kind of monkey
When they were going to the farm to look for what they could eat”.
Story:
Male and Female Aaya were going to a farm, to look for what to eat. As
they normally do every morning. When they got to the farm, not their
own farm, the farm belonged to someone else, the male Aaya would
thank God for sparing the life of the owner of the farm and pray for the
farmer’s health, so that he could be able to farm, and they could be able
to have good harvest.
While the man will be taking note this, the female Aaya, would be
cursing the farmer, that even if the owner of farm dies they would
proceed to another farm to eat. One day, the farmer got to the farm very
early to know the person that has been harvesting his crops illegally. He
hid on the top of a tree with his gun then he saw these Aaya coming.
When they got to the farm, the male Aaya prayed as he used to do. The
female Aaya cursed as usual. This curse annoyed the farmer and he
shot the female Aaya, but unfortunately she was pregnant. The male
Aaya ran away, the farmer came down, took a knife and sliced the the
womb open, he saw a small calabash which he took home, he invited his
Awo to interprete the mistery, he was told it contained a twin.
Ose-Osa (Ose-Masa)
1. Ifa foresees Ire. Ifa says this man should not be afraid of women, but women
will bring fortunes and misfortunes. He should deal with those women
diplomatically.
Meaning:
“It is with steady we climb a palm tree
Tthis the Ifa cast for Ose
When he was going to the land of females Inhabitants
He was asked to make ebo
He complied
Move closer to them – it was the war of females
Embrace them – it was the war of females
Associate with them – it was the war of females
Ose, do not run for them – They are all females”.
Story:
Ose wanted to go to a town inhabited only by women, he became afraid.
He then decided to inquire from Ifa, the awo told him not to be afraid that
he should go. All he needed to do was to be diplomatic with them.
When he got there he associated with them and was also generous with
them. Seeing this generousity, the women assisted him to become
successful.
2. Ifa forsees ire aje (financial success/breakthrough) and victory for the person
whom this Odu is revealed.If a man, he must be intiated into Ifa, and if a
woman, she must do isode (marriage with Ifa). It is Ifa that will make him/her
great in life.
Meaning:
“Bamboo grows thickly together
Palmwine tapper climbs palm tree gradually
This was the Ifa cast for Iyere (medicinal pepper seed)
When he was going to hold on to Ifa for its safety
Ope (Ifa) I hold on to you
May you not abandon me
The bark of the tree does fall off from the tree”.
Story:
Iyere wanted goog things of life, it was advised to put all its hope on Ifa and that
it was Ifa that could solve his entire problem. Iyere complied and was happy
afterwards.
3. Ire aje. Ifa says that his/her in-law will come to his/her aid, but he/she must be
sincere, straight forward and open.

Meaning:
“It is better to confess what we are capable of
We should not pretend to be charlatans

When he was going to earn his livelihood at his in-law’s place
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied”.
Story:
Ose wanted to seek the help of his in-law about eaning a livelihood. He first
went to the awo to consult Ifa. He was told to be as sincere and open as
possible and pretend to be a charlatan. By so doing, he would be assisted and
become successful thereafter. He complied.
4. Ifa advises the owner of this Ifa to offer ebo and be making regular Ipese to
Iyami (witches) so that they may not be disturbing him/her in achieving his/her
endeavour.
Ebo: Rooster, pigeon, money.
Iyami: Giant rat, porridge, to be prepared separately.

“Kukute kuku, the awo by the roadside

Story:
The people of Liki went for divination when they were being tormented
by the witches.They were advised to offer ebo and to make ipese for
them.They complied,hence peace returned to their community and were
able to achieve their endeavours.
Oyeku Otura (Oyeku Betula)
Ebo: 3 Roosters, 2 hens, money, isin seed (a kind of fruit), premature cotton
seed (un- opened), ela leaves.
Medicine: After ebo, these items (2 seeds and ela leaves) will be burnt
together,recite the Ifa verse below on it and make 21 incision on the
head.
Meaning:
“The wind can not be furious enough to lift a mortar
While whirlwind can not be furious enough to lift the sand beneath the
river
This was Ifa’s pronoucent to Orunmila
When his enemies decreed that he would never be prosperous
Orunmila replied that they were all liars
That they were only gossiping
He said: ”No matter how hard Isin suffered, it will eventually mature and
break open
No matter now hard cotton wool suffered, it will eventually mature and
open
No matter how hard ela leaves suffered, it will eventually break open
Ifa, please do not let me suffer deprivation of money
I have become the Awo of Oyeku and Otura
I shall have breakthrough in my life”.
Story:
Orunmila’s adversaries did not want him to prosper. This made him to
seek Ifa divination and was advised to make ebo and use the medicine
made for him by the awo. Orunmila complied and became wealthy.
2. Ifa warns the owner of this Ifa to take good care of himself/herself because of
unforeseen ailment. Ifa says the person has been spending a lot of money on
something, and to make ebo for the successful completion of the thing. Ifa
warns the owner of this Ifa that if there is a sickler closer to him/her,he/she
should as well take good care of him/herself as he is taking care of this the
sickler,so that he/she may not contact the ailment.

And also cast for Palaka, raffia wall
They were advised to offer ebo.
They refused

3. Ifa says the person has a child, he/she has Egbe (astral mates). Ifa says they
must procure Egbe for the child, it is by the sea the Egbe dwells, he/she must

Ose ‘Tura
1. Ifa says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed has more penchants for
charms and medicines than sacrifice. Ifa says that reliance on charms,
medicines or power alone can not deliver or support him as much as his Ori
and Ifa will do. He should always propitiate his Ori and Ifa for their support all
the time.
Meaning:
”Amiwo aja, the babalawo of Oloyo

Amiwo aja, the good priest of Oloyo’s household”.
Story:
Oloyo used to have more penchants for charms and medicines than
etutu (sacrifice).He had somuch relied on the efficacy of charms that he
believed he could do everything with it. Unfortunately for, he became
disappointed when he failed to succeed in life. This made him to consult
his babalawo in order to decipher his problem.The babalawo told him to
feed his Ori and Ifa if he wanted to succeed in life, that he had relied so
much on charms which could fail at anytime. It is Ifa and Ori that can
assist or support one in times of difficulty and not charms.
2. Ifa says that the owner of this Ifa needs to offer ebo because of children.This is
to enable his/her children to live long and not dying pre-maturely.Ifa also says
that a pregnant woman should offer ebo for safe childbirth. A barren woman
should also offer ebo so that she would beget her own children.
Meaning:
“Ose tututu, the babalawo of the New born
Divined for the New born
When coming from heaven to earth
He was advised to offer ebo
So that he would not die prematurely before his parents
He complied.
When a New child comes around, he calls his father
When a New child comes around, he calls his mother

Story:
When Omo tuntun (new born baby) was coming from heaven to
earth.He consulted Ifa about long life.He was advised to offer ebo, he
complied. When he came to the earth, his parents did not lose him
prematurely and they were all happy afterwards.
3. Ifa says it foresees prestige and ire of chieftaincy for this person. Ifa promises
happiness for him/her. He/she needs to offer ebo in this respect.
4. Ifa says this person should offer ebo, that he will be comfortable, and that all
what seems hard up will soon be alright.

1. Ifa foresees ire.Ifa says that this person wants to acquire something, that if
acquired, the consequences will not be favourable. Ifa advises him/her not to
acquire another man’s property or wife.

This was the Ifa cast for Eti, ear
When going to seduce the daughter of the king of Iwanran who was the
wife of Efon, mosquito
He was advised to offer ebo
He complied.
I shall surely seduce this woman for good”.
Story:
Eti, ear consulted Ifa that he was going to seduce the wife of Efon,
mosquito but was advised against it, that such act is fraught with
problems. He insisted that he would seduce her,but no sooner he
seduced the wife of Efon than he be began to experience problems from
Efon who was always pestering him for seducing his wife.
2. Ifa says there is a particular lady who is supposed to be aya Ifa.Ifa says she
should marry a person with Ifa or a babalawo so as to have a good settled
home.
Ebo: 2 hens, pigeons, money. After the sacrifice she should feed Ifa and do
isode (Ifa’s marriage) with Otutu-opon beads, yam, rat, fish.

This was the Ifa cast for Mojibade
The on who has been dating several men
But has nothing to profit from it
She was advised to offer ebo
She refused”.
Story:
Mojibade had dated so many men, yet she had nothing to profit from it
(child). She went for consultation and was advised to offer ebo and to
get married to Ifa, but she refused.There and then, Esu started making
jest of her that until she was married to a babalawo she would not be
blessed with a child.
3. Ifa says that this person should offer ebo in order not to be in want. Ifa says
he/she has astral mates. He/she should procure and established Egbe shrine
and always propitiate it. Ifa says that his/her Egbe will always support him/her.
Meaning:
“The short palm tree of the wilderness (alias)

4. Ifa warns the owner of this Ifa to be carefull in dealing with women, he should
not be too confident or underestimate the power of women. He should be
careful not to meet with troubles in the process of dealing with women or in the
process of seducing another man’s wife. He should not also disappoint a
woman, he should be as straightforward as possible.

Idin Ose
1. Ifa forsees ire of longevity for the person whom this Odu is revealed. Ifa
says he/she should offer ebo against the preople who engage in
disturbing people’s progress. Ifa says he/she is surrounded by silent
attack from these people, but in the end he/she will overcome it and way
shall be paved(breakthrough) for him. Ifa says that the enemy is
somebody closer to the owner of this Ifa.
Ebo: 2 He-goats, rooster, hen, money. One of the he-goats to be fed to Esu,
together with hoe, knife, cutlass and axe.All these tools shall be placed
on Esu before the he-goat’s blood is spilled on it. The Awo should
inquire what Ogun shall need for propitiation.

husband’s house. While the second ram is to be offered when she has put to
bed, other sacrificial materials include pigeon and hen.

4. Ifa forsees ire of spouse for the owner of this Ifa.He should offer ebo, because
the lady whom he wants to marry is also being wanted by another man. He
should also propitiate Esu with he-goat and to propitiate Egbe with Ekuru
(unsalted beans pudding), beans cake, hen, and fruits.

The People of Ipo and Ofa towns
The owner of the wife should take his wife away”.
Story:
The people in the town had already known the two of them as suitors for
Omide and as a result they were both quarelling over who should marry
Omide. They went and reported to the Oba, Esu also went there and
advised the Oba to lock them up in a cell for 7days. Oba complied.
During these days, Olokose covered himself with the flowing gown he
used for the ebo (since he had been asked to always put it on). Also his
egbe (astral mates) were always on hand to provide for his needs.
Eluulu was at the same time left out without anybody to cater for
him.After 7days the Oba ordered their release and by the time they
came out Eluulu had looked so haggard, shabby and very week. While
Olokose looked neat and strong. In the end, Olkose was asked to marry
Omide.
Irosun Ika
1. Ifa forsees ire.Ifa says that five persons are lamenting for child bearing, they
need to offer ebo and feed Ifa separately.

These 5 people were friends, they al went to the awo in order to have
Children.The awo advised them to make ebo, four of them did the ebo,
and they are Agbe, Aluko, Odidere and Owonranwaran, while Olu failed
to comply. They begot children and they were happy seeing all their
Children playing together, but Olu became sad and felt ashamed to
associate with them.Yet, they said they could not because of that
refused to associate with Olu. They started singing a song in respect of
it.
2. Ifa says, this person wants to go to a place, Ifa says, if possible the person
should not go. Ifa says the iyami (witches) are dewelling much in the place.
Five persons should make ebo and feed iyami.

3. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa says there is Obatala in the family which has been
neglected. I say that it is this neglect that has been troubling the entire family
of the owner of this Ifa.

Obatala was coming to this world from heaven, he consulted Ifa and
Irosun Ika was revealed. He was told tom feed his Ori and he should at
no time forget to appease his Ori. Obatala complied. Ifa says there is
something that the suppliant was doing before but has been neglected.
4. Ifa forsees unexpected gift for the owner of this Ifa. He/she should make ebo
so that his/her business may not scatter or dwindle but to grow rapidly.

Odan, a particular type of tree that was planted in front of a house, Oja,
market and Ile, house. All of them went to a babalawo for Ifa raeding.
The babalawo advised them to offer ebo for their homes not to be
desserted at the end of the day. Odan and Oja refused to comply
because they were so proud that people could not leave them. It was
only Ile that offered the ebo. Everyday, people would gather under
Odan tree to rest or sell, but later in the day they would all go into their
houses and carry along with them everything inside the house. The
same occurrence also happened to Oja when everybody would enter
their houses with all those things they took to or bought from the market.
Ile then became happy thereafter.
Ogunda Osa (Ogunda masa)
1. Ifa foresees ire aje, wealth. Ifa advises the owner of this Ifa to make ebo
always. Ifa says the person is going to reap the fruit of the ebo.
Meaning:
Story:
Baba Arugbo (Obatala) lacked good things of life. He went to seek the
advice of Ifa, and was told to continue making ebo and also be feeding
his Ori. By doing this he would experience the influx of aje
unexpectedly. He complied and no sooner than later he became
prosperous and people started wondering how he made it.
Ebo: 2 He-goats, 200 native chalks, 200 camwood, rooster, gin, 6 bottles of
local gin.
Ifa: 4 Rats, 4 fish.
Ritual:They should ask Ifa the type of animal to be used for the spiritual
bathing. Thereafter, they will dig a hole(about 3 feet) in the ground, put
a stool inside the hole to sit on. The person will be marked all over
his/her body with the native chalks and camwood that have been mixed
separately in a basin. Then two people will propitiate his head
simultaneously, in the front while the other person at back. Thereafter
the animal will be killed and let the blood cacade down the body of the
person and he/she will rub the blood all over his/her body. The gin and
the local gin shall be mixed together and some water be added to it to
the quantity enough to bathe with. The person will be given the sponge
and the awebi soap to bathe.
Ifa says that if this is done all the person’s misery shall become a thing
of the past and ther shall be breakthrough for him/her.
Meaning:
3. Ifa advises this person to make ebo and to avoid underrating, despising or
cheat anybody.
Meaning:
The people of Imoro were looking for babalawo that would help solve
their problems. At the same time they did not want to pay
commensurably for the services. Eventually they settled for Ajangidi.
Ajangidi cast Ifa for them and performed the necessary ebo for them.
Their lives improved and things went on smoothly for them, but they
refused to pay the awo for the services rendered. After some time,
things started getting sour for them, they then went to another awo for
Ifa divination. This awo directed them back to Ajangidi to go and pay
him his due money. They went back to Ajangidi and he told them the
last three sentences of the Ifa verse above.
4. Ifa says that two persons should offer ebo in order to have children. They are
friends.

Meaning:
Story:
Iyeye and Orogbo were friends, both had no children. They went to
seek the service of babalawo who divined for them and advised them to
offer ebo. They both complied, and no sooner than later they begot
many children thereafter.
Okanran Odi
1. Ifa says that a particular awo should offer ebo for breakthrough in his divined
business, or there is somebody closer to this suppliant that will prosper through
the job of babalawo.
Meaning:
The riverine Apa tree (African mahogany) with thick bark (alias of awo)

2. Ifa says the owner of this Ifa should offer ebo for child bearing and to propitiate

4. Ifa says that somebody should not misuse the honour or dignity bestowed on
him. He should be very careful so that he is not captured by the enemies. He

Ose Orogbe
1. Ifa forsees ire of wealth for this person, but he must maintain cleanliness and
good hygiene. Inability to observe this may affect his attainment of ire
adversely. Ifa also foresees Ire from abroad for him.
Meaning:
2. Ifa foresees ire of longevity for a particular child. Ifa says he/she will not die
prematurely; he/she will live to old age. The parents should propitiate Egbe for
him/her.

3. The owner of this Ifa should exercise patience; he should never be in a hurry to
achieve success. His destiny does not favour haste. He will still be successful
in life. There will still come a child, his name shall be Makanjuola, he is a child
of awo/Ifa.
Meaning:
4. Ifa says that a particular woman who should offer ebo so that she does not
have her complexion blemished. She should not attempt to bleach her
complexion lest she will have herself to blame.

the she goat is for Ifa.
Meaning:
(Ifa warns a particular woman not to think too much about having children
alone, she only needs to pray for good caring and upbringing of the children.)
3. Ifa warns a particular couple not to stand as a guarantor for anybody so that it
will not become problems for them. If they have stood as aguarantor for some
body, they should offer ebo in order not to have problem as a result of the act.

person should watch for a new moon in heaven and feed it with one bitter kola.
Ifa says he/she will become prosperous in that month. But, he/she should not
be too excited about the money.

Story:
Gbagaroko went to Awo to know what Ifa has in stock for him in the
year, the Awo told him that he will be prosperous that year, but he
should make ebo, he compiled. One day as he laboured in the farm of
his Master, because, the normal practice was that, no one keeps money
at home, but goes to the bush to bury it. His leg enter a pit, but he felt
that there is something in the pit, he dugged it and found that it is
money. He took it home and begins to spend it lavishly. The people
became of suspicious of him, especially in his song that he saw the
money in the bush. They reported him to Oba. Oba summoned him, but
Esu to him that, he should tell the Oba that what he said was not money
but orogbo that he said.
3. Ifa advices this person to make ebo against illness. Ifa says the person must
not eat roster or snail. This is Eewo for Ogundabede for life. But, if mere
consultation, the person should ask Ifa for the duration of time.

manifest. Ifa says the person is planning to go to a place. Ifa says the place
shall be comfortable for the person.

3. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa says there is a lady here, Ifa advices her to weave her hair
to Suku, traditional styles always. Ifa says she has a bag she always travel
with, she should make ebo with it so that she may not loose the bag with
valuable items that will put her to shame.

Onisuku wanted to travel to Owa-Osan for her business. She went for
Ifa consultation she was told to make ebo with the bags, she refused.
After she has bought all her goods and put them in that bag,
unknowingly to her, the bag got stolen by unknown person. And she
was put to shame.
4. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa says there is a wedding ceremony to be done here, Ifa says
they should make ebo, if they want it to go smoothly without calamity and
casualty. Ifa is against being over joyous.

Oturupon – Iwori
1. Ifa foresees child bearing for him/her, Ifa says there is a woman, Ifa warns her
not to marry any man of the same town, village etc. So that she may have
children as soon as possible.

Aferemojo was barren for some years. She had married many men in
her village to the extent that no one wanted to marry her again; it was
because of this she went to Awo, who told her that she is not destined to
marry in her village, but she should go far from the place to a place she
is not known. She complied and was blessed with many children.
2. Ifa foresees victory, Ifa says he/she should make ebo and feed Eegungun
(Ancestral spirits).

Eegungun and Efuru were long standing enemies. How to overcome
Efuru has always been a problem for Eegun, because of this he went to
seek the service of Awo, who asked him to make ebo and feed his head.
He complied.
One day Esu asked Eegun to beheaded Efuru, Eegun complied. Esu
asked Eegun to be carrying the head all about. Eegun complied. Efuru
is the tray on the head of Eegun.
3. Ifa foresees long life for this person, Ifa says, the person should make ebo. Ifa
says this person has a flowing gown, Ifa says the person should be wearing it
after Isefa has been made onto it.

clog on the person way of progress. Ifa advices the person to make ebo and
feed his/her ancestors with rams. Ifa advices that by doing this regularly, the
person shall be having success all the way.
