1. What do you think is the role of science and technology in our society today?
In today's world, the role of science and technology is indispensable. We need Science and Technology in
every sphere of our life like to treat diseases such as cancer or even to book a cab or train/flight ticket. In
fact, without technology (integrated with science), we cannot imagine our life per se. The converse
impact of technology on science is of at least equal importance: (1) through providing a fertile source of
novel scientific questions and thereby also helping to justify the allocation of resources needed to
address these questions in an efficient and timely manner, extending the agenda of science; (2) as a
source of otherwise unavailable instrumentation and techniques needed to address novel and more
difficult scientific questions more efficiently. Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn,
and think. It helps society and determines how people interact with each other on a daily basis. It's
made learning more interactive and collaborative, this helps people better engage with the material that
they are learning and have trouble with
The essence of how science and technology contributes to society is the creation of new knowledge,
and then utilization of that knowledge to boost the prosperity of human lives, and to solve the various
issues facing society.
2. Why must STS be offered in an interdisciplinary approach?
Interdisciplinary teaching helps students make sense of scientific issues and problems that are
presented in real-life contexts. Interdisciplinary teaching aids them in coping with the issues by using
skills and knowledge associated with any of the relevant disciplines. Students learn to compare and built
concepts across various subject areas. The interdisciplinary study helps students to pursue new
knowledge of different subject areas. Interdisciplinary knowledge and application of different disciplines
would lead to greater creativity and ultimately to overall development. Well science etymologically
means knowledge And for the furtherance of human civilization knowledge is mandatory to be passed
on so that the process of learning is not again initiated from zero.
Technology is a branch that facilitates application of science in a smart manner to achieve many goals
easily and thus science and technology are hand and gloves if we so desire to express.
By having a comprehensive and well knit system we assure that life is well facilitated in the new
challenging scenario.
The students having an in depth study of the same can facilitate a new era of cohesive coexistence.
Today we are so well linked by the internet technology that any challenges faced in any part of the world
is quickly intimated and reacted to. It's all thanks to science and technology working symbiotically.
I guess so in an interdisciplinary approach the presence is strengthening
