Fake news

We’ve all heard the term fake news, it’s used to describe a lot of different things. Fake news isn’t just one single thing, it involves
different types of news and information sharing across lots of apps and websites. But what actually is a fake news?

Fake news is when news, stories, or hoaxes are created deliberately misinform or deceive

A lot of fake news stories are created just as a joke or because people are really, really bored, but some are posted to deliberately
trick us. They do that for two main reasons. The first is to get you to click on their site, so they can make money from advertising
or even from scams. The second is to make you think differently about something or someone, and that can be a big problem.

The problems start with the fact that today we are interacting with the news in a way that is completely different to any other
time of history. We used to get the news from just a limited number of places, it was easy to trust news stories because they were
produced by professional journalists working with well-known organizations. Everyone got the news from the same range of
newspapers and radio stations everyday and content was checked by editors, you knew who was writing the stories and quite
often their usual biases or points of view. But things have changed quickly. First, the news moved on to television, and then on to
the web, and now it’s on our phones and watches. Suddenly there’s so much news that’s hard to keep track of where it’s coming
from. It’s difficult to tell if the news we read, and watch is made by qualified journalists. People trying to go viral, even groups
deliberately spreading false information.

(1) information and communications technology and semiconductors
(2) food and agriculture
(3) energy
(4) health
(5) environment
2. Nanotechnologies which scored low in environment and health hazards and risks were
not considered, what do you think could be the reason why it is not identified for
prioritization?
Lack of evidence could be the reason why it is not identified for prioritization.

3. Differentiate the concept of nanostructured, nanocomposite, and nanoparticle.

Nanostructured Materials (NsM) are materials with a microstructure the characteristic
length scale of which is on the order of a few (typically 1–10) nanometers, and
Nanocomposites are materials that incorporate nanosized particles into a matrix of
standard material, while the nanoparticle is a small particle that ranges between 1 to
100 nanometres in size.

4. Do you think nanotechnology roadmap for the Philippines is achievable? Why or why
not? Give concrete evidences to support your answer.

There are currently a few Filipino experts now working on nanotechnology
