• Past simple: verb To
Past simple with the verb to be: was/were.
Was it a carnivore? Yes, it was/ No, it wasn’t.
Past simple with the rest of the verbs: we must use did.
Did you do your homework yesterday? No, I didn’t/ Yes, I did.
Past simple: regular verbs.
To form the past simple in regular verbs we add “-ed” at the end of the verb.
Show-> showed
Regular verbs ending in a “-e” we add “-d”
Close -> closed
Regular verbs ending in a “vowel + y” we add “-ed”
Play -> played
Regular verbs ending in a “consonant + y” the “y” becomes an “i” and we add “-ed”
Marry -> married
Past simple regular and irregular verbs: affirmative, negative.
People slept in caves.
People didn’t have computers.
In the present simple we use don’t but in the past simple we use didn’t + infinitive: didn’t
