Displacement is the distance between the final destination and the initial position
Here, the dotted line is the distance travelled, the normal line
is the displacement
Velocity
v = s/t
Displacement-time graphs
Displacement-time graphs are a way to denote the displacement of an object over
time.
v = Δs/Δt
Adding vectors
1. Rearrange the vectors to have each tail on a head until each vector forms one line.
2. Find the distance between the “head” and the “tail”, usually done using the
Pythagoreas Theorem
THIS IS A TEXTBOOK DEFINITION and this is not the easiest way to do it in most
cases. The following is a “shortcut”.
2. Calculate the distance between the beginning of vector A and end of vector B by
making one big triangle with sides Cₓ = Aₓ + Bₓ and Cᵧ = Aᵧ + Bᵧ
3. Find the hypotenuse of triangle C
