CLOUD COMPUTING RESEARCH

1. What is a cloud service provider?

2. A cloud service provider is a third-party company offering a cloud-based platform,
infrastructure, application, or storage services. Much like a homeowner would pay for a
utility such as electricity or gas, companies typically must pay only for cloud services
they use, as business demands require.

4. What is Platform as a Service (PaaS)?

5. PaaS provides a platform from which cloud customers can run their own applications
without having to manage underlying servers. For example, a company can run a website
on a cloud service that does not require configuration of a Windows web server. This is
especially helpful with complex websites, such as those that allow for buying and selling
online.

7. What are two (2) benefits of cloud computing?

8. Flexibility
9. Users can scale services to fit their needs, customize applications and access
cloud services from anywhere with an internet connection.
10. Efficiency
11. Enterprise users can get applications to market quickly, without worrying about
underlying infrastructure costs or maintenance.
12. Strategic value
13. Cloud services give enterprises a competitive advantage by providing the most
innovative technology available.

15. What is one (1) disadvantage of using cloud computing?

16. Downtime
17. Businesses receive cloud computing services only through the Internet. When
there is an internet outage or weak connectivity, services get interrupted, and
this increases downtime. Therefore, one of the major criticisms of cloud
computing is its high dependency on the Internet.
