Assignment 1: Opening & Closing a Conversation.

Choose a role-play partner from your classmates. Then, choose one of the
situations given to conduct a role-play with your partner. Create a
conversation, make improvisation, and use the appropriate expressions you
have learned in Unit 1.

Situation 1:
Professor A and student B meet in the corridor. B has a class in another
building and is already late, but does not want to be rude to Professor A, who
is very friendly and talkative this morning.

Situation 2:
You are on your way to the bus stop to go downtown for a show that starts
at eight o’clock. It is now seven-thirty, and it takes fifteen minutes to get
there. You meet an acquaintance who is obviously glad to see you and wants
to talk for a while.

Video-taping direction:
Record the role-play. NEVER read any script in the recording session. Before
conducting the conversation, introduce yourself so the lecturer will remember
each one of your names. The conversation may take less than 2 minutes but
no longer than 2 minutes. After ending the taping, label the recorded
document by writing:
Your full name_Ass.1
Each student needs to send his/her own video-recording document
individually to SyamOk (NOT to email addr. and/or telegram) because the
system will only record list of names who submit the assignment. Check out
the submission deadline. Late submission of the assignment will not be
accepted for any reason.
