Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word has been added to all of the reference computers in the library, as well as Excel and PowerPoint.
If you need help with anything on the second floor, the library has added a desk that is staffed during the librarys business hours.
The library will be redesigning the librarys website this fall for roll-out in the spring, and we plan to include pictures of our patrons. Throughout the fall, keep an eye out for opportunities to have your picture taken at the library to be included on the new website! Unfortunately, because the library is closed for breaks (fall break, Christmas break, spring break), we dont have a way to keep an animal fed and cared for. So, although several of you suggested we have a library cat or other animal, we do not think we could be responsible pet owners. Specifically, a zip line from the library to Pontotoc Hall. Though this was, by far, the most original suggestion, we cant even list all the reasons why we cant do this!
The Parker Ethics Center collection has moved to the Linscheid Library. The collection is available on the third (main) floor of the library behind the music scores and near the Oklahoma Studies Collection. The collection of nearly 100 books covers ethics and business, including advertising, marketing and finance. Oscar L. Parker Center for the Advancement of Ethical Standards in Business and Society was
founded in 1988 as a result of a trust agreement honoring Oscar L. Parker. Parker was a long-time employee of ECU and served in several key positions, including business manager, at East Central. The Parker Center provides a forum for discussing ethical issues of interest to the business community and the general public. The current director of the center is Dr.Thomas Lanis, associate professor of business administration.
You might not have realized it, but the Linscheid Library has a map collection. Actually, the library has thousands of maps, representing all kinds of information. Until recently, though, these maps couldnt be found in the librarys online catalog, so chances are you didnt even know they existed. To fix this problem, the library and the faculty in the Cartography & Geography Department worked together on a project both to better organize the map collection and to make it findable in the online catalog. As of this fall the project has been completed and now you can find Oklahoma maps, maps of the world, time zone maps, political maps, historical maps and other maps of all sorts. So keep an eye out for the map icon that will be showing up in the online catalog there are some interesting maps in the collection and they are well worth checking out!
