You Asked, We listened!

Coffee
Over the past year, the library has asked for input from you, our patrons. Youve filled out surveys, youve turned in comment cards, and youve answered questions on the librarys white board. At the library, we didnt just collect your suggestions we went to work! Heres what you asked for and what we did about it. Keep the suggestions for improvements to the library coming we promise to listen and implement your suggestions whenever we can! Thanks to a generous donation from the Linscheid Library Academic Friends, the library now sells coffee during the librarys business hours. You can purchase a cup of regular or decaffeinated coffee or espresso for 50 cents or a cup of hot water for 25 cents.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word has been added to all of the reference computers in the library, as well as Excel and PowerPoint.

Help on the 2nd Floor Pictures of You Animals Zip Line

If you need help with anything on the second floor, the library has added a desk that is staffed during the librarys business hours.

The library will be redesigning the librarys website this fall for roll-out in the spring, and we plan to include pictures of our patrons. Throughout the fall, keep an eye out for opportunities to have your picture taken at the library to be included on the new website! Unfortunately, because the library is closed for breaks (fall break, Christmas break, spring break), we dont have a way to keep an animal fed and cared for. So, although several of you suggested we have a library cat or other animal, we do not think we could be responsible pet owners. Specifically, a zip line from the library to Pontotoc Hall. Though this was, by far, the most original suggestion, we cant even list all the reasons why we cant do this!

The Parker Ethics Center collection has moved to the Linscheid Library. The collection is available on the third (main) floor of the library behind the music scores and near the Oklahoma Studies Collection. The collection of nearly 100 books covers ethics and business, including advertising, marketing and finance. Oscar L. Parker Center for the Advancement of Ethical Standards in Business and Society was

The Parker Center provides a forum for discussing ethical issues of interest to the business community and the general public. The current director of the center is Dr.Thomas Lanis, associate professor of business administration.

The Journal and Pesagi Join the Digital Age

The Journal and Pesagi yearbook are now available from the Linscheid Library home page (http://library.ecok.edu). To access the files, search the library catalog by title (Pesagi) or Journal Title (The Journal). Click on the relevant title. You should then see a list of years available. Click on the relevant year and grab a snack while the file loads. These are all large files. So, whether you are downloading them for later use or viewing them in your browser, they will take a few minutes to load. You can search for words within the text using your Adobe Acrobat Reader. Accessibility is a high priority at Linscheid Library. The PDF files should be fully accessible to screen reader software, color filters and screen magnification utilities. Please contact Angie Brunk for assistance at 580.559.5308 or abrunk@ecok. edu. The library can produce copies of the files in multiple formats, including text to speech.

Where am I? Find out at the Library

You might not have realized it, but the Linscheid Library has a map collection. Actually, the library has thousands of maps, representing all kinds of information. Until recently, though, these maps couldnt be found in the librarys online catalog, so chances are you didnt even know they existed. To fix this problem, the library and the faculty in the Cartography & Geography Department worked together on a project both to better organize the map collection and to make it findable in the online catalog. As of this fall the project has been completed and now you can find Oklahoma maps, maps of the world, time zone maps, political maps, historical maps and other maps of all sorts. So keep an eye out for the map icon that will be showing up in the online catalog there are some interesting maps in the collection and they are well worth checking out!
