Establish Rapport

This week, I had the opportunity to conduct a peer observation with an instructional

leader. Prior to our observation, the instructional leader established rapport with Ms. J, the

observee, through friendly smiles, casual conversations, career goals, and what she wanted us to

focus on during the visit. During our observation, my instructional leader took notes and shared

them with Ms. J. She particularly appreciated technology usage in the class and the student

engagement she witnessed. The instructional leader’s feedback was constructed methodically as

it included both positive moments and areas of improvement. One area of improvement included

utilizing differentiated instructions for students with special learning needs.

Positive and Constructive Feedback

Addressed in the paragraph above.

Instructional, Engagement, and Differentiation Strategies

The instructional leader suggested utilizing differentiated instructions for future lessons

to address students with special learning needs. For example, she suggested integrating visual

arts, hands-on activities, and simplified assignments to help specific students achieve at their

adequate levels.

Suggestions for Instructional Leader

During the post-conference, I did not have any suggestions for the instructional leader.

She conducted the observation professionally and followed the guidelines precisely provided by

the school district. I thanked her for letting me watch her observe other teachers and asked for

tips for my future practice.

Improve Peer Observation

In short, the field experience provided me with another opportunity to watch how

instructional leader conducted their observations. This event reinforced the importance of

constructive feedback and supporting teachers through acknowledgments. I believe I also made a

positive impact on Ms. J through respectful communication, methodical feedback, and thanking

her for sharing her passion with the students.
