Immune system

A. Function
The immune system is very important to the body because it Protects the
body from pathogens.
B. Pathogens
A pathogen.It's something that causes a disease. A pathogen could be a
virus or produce or bacteria, or even a fungus.
C. Lines of defense
1. First line of defense
Your first line of defense is made-up of the physical and chemical
barrier. Physical barriers are the Skin.mucus membrane hair and even
Openings in the body. These physical barriers physically block pathogens
from entering the body. Chemical. barriers include the saliva in your
mouth.and the acid in your stomach These chemically destroy pathogens
2. Second line of defense
The second line of defense is called nonspecific resistance. I mean it
tries to destroy all pathogens, not specific ones Phagocytes ourselves that
eat in destroy pathogens. A fever. Is a Increase. in temperature. That slows
down the pathogen and gives tissue time to Heal.
3. Third line of defense
The third line of defense is called specific resistance or immunity. Is
produce.Antibodies that locate a specific pathogen and neutralize it.Or
make it not be able to affect you.Time you're exposed to a virus your body
produces. And if that same pathogen invades your body again your
immune system already has the antibodies to fight it Immunity is specific
because it only gives you immunity to that specific pathogen.
D. Organs
Tonsils, mucus membrane, lymph nodes, thymus spleen, bowel, mucus,
membranes and bladder and genitals, bone marrow and skin.
