Hello to Week Two of Online Learning! strength that each of our children possess

in times of need.

Thank you to all who have adjusted and Online Learning: Week 2 will have our

Important
Details...
Attendance will be taken on Fridays - it is determined based

on the interactions that I see from the Weekly Lessons

I have uploaded ALL Weekly Lessons on to ONE assignment

in Google Classroom. This should help remove the "flood" of

emails that students have been receiving from all of their

teachers.

I have had a few students forget to press "Turn In" - please

remember to complete all work by Thursday evening.

Students that do not have materials can contact me and we

will look for alternative/replacement materials.

Book Talks will be a requirement this quarter - students

should be reading a novel to use as their SSR (Silent

Sustained Reading).

SSR Novels are a strong point in our reading curriculum.

Students should take the total number of pages they need to

read and divide by 50. This is a good approximation of how

many pages they need to read per day in order to finish their

novel on time and complete a book talk. If you are having

difficulty accessing a book, please email me. There are several

FREE resources available to check out books online.

Our written work will take place in the upcoming weeks and

involve annotating an article and writing a position that

demonstrates one's ability to analyze the article.

With that, I look forward to seeing everyone's performance with

this week's lessons. Let's continue to stay forward focussed.

novels to transition into the final eight weeks of the school

year.

By now many of you have heard that the school board has

agreed to go to a system of PASS/FAIL. I do not understand

the entirety of this system for this semester, but I can assure

you that I will remain flexible and will work with the students to

achieve what we may. I am aware of several students in my "“A well-instructed people alone can be a
permanently free people.”
classes who are managing households for the very first time; a

daunting task for any person, let alone a teenager who is

concerned about his/her grades at the same time. I am also

aware that there are several students who are wanting

academic challenges and wish to extend their learning. This is

a new dilemma that I will try to rectify as I am learning how to

handle instructional practices along with everyone else.

Last week I shared my Virtual Office Hours. I had a few

meetings already with students using Zoom. It will be my

practice to have students choose a meeting time and I will

share the Zoom link directly to him/her. Please feel free to

schedule time with me if you have any questions. The sign up

for office hours can be found <HERE>.

Sincerely Yours,

Mr. Harris
