abundant in those cells, and why?

Answer:

A lysosome contains a variety of digestive enzymes that break down molecules like proteins, lipids, nucleic acids,
and carbohydrates. Other cell organelles are also broken down by them, bringing the basic components back into
the inside of the cell.

2. Explain how active transport helps a nerve cell maintain its resting potential.

Answer:
A chemical must actively cross the cell membrane, which is an energy-intensive operation. Positively
charged sodium ions and negatively charged potassium ions are present when the nerve cell is in its
resting potential. The neuron fires during depolarization, which is when active transport comes into play:
the positive ions are compelled to enter, and the negative ions are compelled to exit. These ions return to
normal by active transport after depolarization.

3. The Atlantic cod is a common fish of the Atlantic Ocean that must drink seawater to meet its water needs.
Explain how active transport helps the Atlantic cod maintain homeostasis with regard to the balance of
sodium and chlorine ions, which are abundant in seawater.

Answer:
The active transport activity of the cells is carried out by the Atlantic cod using ATP (energy), allowing
it to remove sodium and chlorine ions from its body and remain exclusively near the water supply.
This is crucial since it is the greatest way to keep these ions in proper balance, which they only require
in certain levels.
