1. Ciburial 1906
The construction of Kolam Pakar Desa Ciburial began in 1906 by making the water tunnel
which is now known as Goa Belanda. The facility was made by BEM (Bandoengsche
Electriciteit Maatschappij) along with the development of Bandung City being kotapraja (in
1906) with a population more than 47.500 soul. The purpose of the facility construction
was to distribute electricity to the Dutch’s homes in North Bandung.
2. Ciburial 1912
The construction of Taman Hutan Raya in Ciburial Village may already be done since 1912
along with the development of the tunnel tapping river flow Ci Kapundung (later referred
to as Goa Belanda).
3. Ciburial 1918
In 1918, Kolam Pakar Desa Ciburial changed function for the sake of military with the
addition of some space in the left and right wing of the main tunnel. Overall length of the
cave reached 547 meters. The height of the cave reached 3.2 meters and the number of
hallway cave reached 15 branches.
4. Ciburial 1922
The inauguration of Taman Hutan Raya as a protected forest in 1922.
5. Ciburial 1923
Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) Bengkok located in Dago, Bandung, West Java
with a capacity of 3x2 megawatts started to be built by Dutch government and has been in
operation since 1923.
6. Ciburial 1960
The Tahura Djuanda area was built since 1960 by Mashudi, he is Governor of West Java
and Ir. Sambas Wirakusumah, who at that time served as North Bandung Administrator and
concurrently as Director of the Forestry Sciences Academy, he got support from Ismail
Saleh as Minister of Justice and Soejarwo as Director General of Forestry, Ministry of
Agriculture.
7. Ciburial 1963
In 1963, part of the protected forest area in Ciburial Village began to be prepared as a
Tourism Forest and Botanical Gardens. In 1963, at the time of the death of Ir. R. Djoeanda
Kartawidjaja or Ir. H. Djuanda, the Protected Forest was immortalized as the Recreational
Botanical Garden of Ir. H. Djuanda to remember his merits. At the same time, Dago Street
was called as Ir. H. Djuanda Street.
8. Ciburial 1980
Because of the number of students at Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) and the
academic programs are increasing. Then in 1980, the second campus of Unisba was built at
Ciburial. It was built on the land donated by H. Amir Machmud as Minister of Home
Affairs.
9. Ciburial 1985
In 1985, Mashudi and Ismail Saleh as a person and Soedjarwo as the Minister of Forestry
proposed to change the status of Taman Wisata Curug Dago to be Taman Hutan Raya. The
proposal was then accepted by President Soeharto, who was later confirmed by Presidential
Decree No. 3 of 1985 dated 12 January 1985. The inauguration of the Taman Hutan Raya
in Ir. H. Djuanda was held on January 14, 1985, which coincided with the birthday of Ir. H.
Djuanda. Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda as the first Grand Forest Park in Indonesia.
10. Ciburial 1987
The Government Regulations, Number 16 of 1987. It is concerning the changes of Batas
Wilayah Kotamadya Daerah Tingkat II Bandung dan Kabupaten Daerah Tingkat II
Bandung.
11. Ciburial 1987
Since 1987, all academic and student activities of Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) have been
re-centered in the campus at Tamansari street, while the second campus of Unisba in Ciburial is
used for student boarding activities, scientific meetings, upgrading and training.
12. Ciburial 1997
Selasar Sunaryo Art Space was founded in 1997, it is inaugurated by the Director General
of Culture is Edi Sedyawati, representing the Minister of Education and Culture (Juwono
Sudarsono). Although construction has begun since 1997, and in 1998 there monetary crisis
caused the construction of Selasar had stopped.
13. Ciburial 2011
Desa Ciburial defined as a Tourism Village through the Bandung Regent Decree.
Tourists
The tourists that visit Ciburial Tourist Village consist of both domestic tourists and
international tourists. They all visit Ciburial to have a vacation, to gain some knowledge, even to
hold a family gathering. Most of them are domestic tourists, but there are usually so many
foreigners we can find in Ciburial Tourist Village.
Demands
Latent demand
When tourists went inside Goa Jepang and Goa Belanda, it felt like they were blind
because they really could not see anything inside the cave because of lack of lightning. The
staff could not meet tourists’ request of setting up electricity.
Developmental marketing: staff provided flashlight rental. Tourists can now see what’s
inside the cave by renting a flashlight.
Irregular demand
There is no public transportation (angkot) when it’s pass 5 pm.
Synchro marketing: through a discussion, villagers cooperate with online transportation
(Go-jek, Grab, etc) to do their business in Ciburial only when there’s no public
transportation.
No Demand
The owner of the farm bees and the original honey are not interested in cultivating with the
latest methods.
Creation Marketing: the owner still exists to expand her product by creating and
processing honey into various types, for example beauty products which can treat skin,
have the properties or savours to cure diseases, and lose weight.
