buggy or the lunar rover. This

paper, dried dung and leaves,
corncobs and coco shells, Masuela

converts UV light into visible light.

used in the substrate can be
derived from waste fruits and
vegetables, the invention gives
farmers mitigation for loss from
their wasted crops.

15. Arturo Alcaraz  Geothermal Energy  Doctor Arturo Alcaraz is a


volcanologist specializing in
geothermal energy development.
In 1967, Arturo Alcaraz and team
powered an electric light bulb
using steam-powered electricity.
Power coming from a Volcano
near the town of tiwi. This was
the first geothermal power
generated in the Philippines.

 Inventions are important for driving technological and human progress. We have many
gadgets and technologies that make our lives easier such as new tools, devices,
processes, and medicines, have provided significant benefits to society. Inventions help
people around the world live longer, healthier, and more-productive lives and provide
new ways to build, move, communicate, heal, learn, and play

2. What is the purpose of inventions?

 An invention uses technology  to solve a specific problem. The technical features of an


invention have a function through which the problem – the purpose of the invention – is
solved. The technical character necessary for patenting requires that the laws of nature
are used to achieve the objective

3. Why do we invent?
 Inventions can lead to new technologies, create new jobs, and improve quality of life.
 The invention has been given to man to advance in his own life and to teach future
generations. So, maybe, to invent something is to open the eyes more and detect what is
needed, what would make the world better and more beautiful. Inventing is being a
visionary. Each invention activates a variety of benefits for the inventor and society: it
stimulates their imagination, develops their potential when it comes to overcoming
barriers, allows the ability to visualize, stimulates perception, provokes new thoughts
and new questions about the world, develops sensitivity, allows discovery, causes
research, facilitates tasks and reduces time, stimulates the will and not be discouraged
by the inconveniences.

4. How inventions affect our life?


 Inventions improve our lives in many ways. They make our tasks easier, entertain us,
improve our knowledge of the world, and even save lives.

5. What inventions have the biggest impact in your life?


 Telephone. Since it was invented, the telephone has been regarded as one of the most
useful things to have in your home. It simply lets us communicate with any other person
in the world that also has a telephone.
