1. Five bundles of pencils contain the quantities below.

Number
Bundle of pencils
A 8
B 6
C 4
D 10
E 6

a. How many different samples of size 2 bundles each are there?

b. List all possible samples of size 2 and compute the mean of each sample.

Mean Number
Bundles of Pencils

c. Calculate the population mean and compare it to the mean of the sampling distribution.
2. A population consists of the following five values: 0,0,1,3,6
a. List all samples of size 3, and compute the mean of each sample.

b. Compute the mean of the distribution of sample means and the population mean. Compare
the two values.

3 Differentiate between the Population and a sample:

4 What is descriptive statistics?

5 What is the purpose of Inferential Statistics?

6 State the characteristics of Normal probability distribution. How we convert normal

probability distribution into a standard normal distribution.

7 What is the formula for standard normal value or Z value.

8 What is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. How do we compute the

mean of an ungrouped data?

9 What are the various measures of Dispersion. Mention how we compute the various

measures of dispersion for an ungrouped data.

10 How is classical probability computed. And how are two events mutually exclusive.

11 What is a probability distribution?

12 What is probability sampling. Explain what is random sampling?

13 Differentiate between systematic sampling & Stratified Sampling?

14 What is sampling error.

3. A random sample of 50 households was selected for a telephone survey. The key question asked
was, “Do you or any member of your household own a cellular telephone with a built-in-
camera?” Of the 50 respondents, 15 said yes and 35 said no.
a. Determine the sample proportion, p, of households with cellular telephones with built-in-
cameras.
