answers to two decimal places.

1. 4, 12, 34, 45, 6

2. 23, 45, 67, 89, 21, 11
3. 88, 87, 86, 89, 88, 90
4. 34, 21, 45, 67, 23
5. 12, 9, 6, 5, 32, 40
B. DEVELOPMENTAL
ACTIVITIES
1. PRESENTATION (The teacher will present the title. And ask the learners what they had
understood about the title from their previous class.)
2. EXPLORATION In the previous lesson, you have learned the concept about the
parameter and statistic. In this lesson we will study a form of
probability distribution which is known as the sampling distribution.
A population consists of the five numbers 2, 3, 6, 10, and 12. Consider
samples of size 2 that can be drawn
From this population.

SAMPLE MEAN
2,3 2.5

A population consists of the five numbers 2, 3, 6, 10 and 12. Consider

samples of size 2 that can be drawn from this population.

To answer this, use the formula N (the number of N objects taken n at

a time), 𝐶 where N is the total 𝑛 population and n is the sample to be
taken out of the population,

In this case N= 5 and n= 2

5𝐶 = 10 2

So, there are 10 possible samples to be drawn.

B. Construct the sampling distribution of sample means.
List the entire possible outcome and get the mean of every sample.
Sample Sample Mean
2,3 2.5
2,4 3
2,6 4
2,10 6
2,12 7
3,10 6.5
3,6 4.5
3,12 7.5
6,10 8
6,12 8

Observe that the means vary from sample to sample. Thus, any mean
based on the sample drawn
from a population is expected to assume different values for samples
C. This time, let us make a probability distribution of the sample
means. This probability distribution is called the sampling distribution
of the sample means.
Sample Mean Probability
2.5 1/10 or 0.1
3 1/10 or 0.1
4 1/10 or 0.1
6 1/10 or 0.1
7 1/10 or 0.1
6.5 1/10 or 0.1
4.5 1/10 or 0.1
7.5 1/10 or 0.1
8 1/10 or 0.1
9 1/10 or 0.1

Observe that all sample means appeared only one; thus, their
probability is (𝑥) = 1 10 or 0. 1

(The teacher will explain each statement and show the example stated
above. )
3. EXPLAINATION (The teacher shows another example so that the learner identifies the
problem. )
EXPLAIN: CONSTRUCTING SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION
Instructions: Construct a sampling distribution of sample mean and
answer the questions on your answer sheet.
Samples of 3 cards are drawn from a population of five cards
numbered from 1-5.

1. How many are the possible outcomes?

4. ELABORATION  The probability distribution of the sample means is called the
sampling distribution of sample means.
 A sampling distribution of sample means is a probability
distribution that describes the probability for each mean of all samples
with the same sample size n .
C. CONCLUDING
ACTIVITIES
1. GENERALIZATION TOPIC SUMMARY

In this lesson, you have learned that …

A sampling distribution of sample mean is a frequency distribution
using the means computed from all possible random samples of a
specific size taken from a population.
2. APPLICATION The teacher will show an activity and give the instruction.
3. VALUING Always remember that:
Sampling distribution of sample means it is useable in your research
subject in interpreting the gathered data from the respondents.
IV. EVALUATION EVALUATE: SAMPLING WATERMELONS
Construct all random samples consisting two observations from the
given data. You are asked to guess the average weight of the six
watermelons by taking a random sample without replacement from
the population.

Watermelon A B C D E F
Weight (in pounds) 19 14 15 9 10 17
V. ASSIGNMENT Instruction: On your answer sheets, write “WE HEAL” if the
statement is correct and write “WE RECOVER” if the statement is
incorrect.

1. Theoretically, a histogram demonstrating the mean of all

samples analyzed from a given population would be known as
the sampling distribution.
2. The review of sampling distributions of the sample means will
be the baseline for inferential statistics and the test hypothesis.
3. The total value of all possible samples means that all possible
random samples of a given population size will be equal to the
population mean only if the data were normally distributed.
4. For any population, the standard deviation of the sample
means is approximately equal to the standard deviation of the
population.
5. When the average of all possible values of the sample statistic
is equal to the parameter, the statistic is known as a biased
estimator of the parameter.
