1. What makes a person Filipino?

If a person has Filipino parents but is born in another country, is he/she still a Filipino?
What about if a person with foreign parents is born and raised in the Philippines, is he/she Filipino?
     Explain your reasoning.
 Yes,  If a child is born to a Filipino parents anywhere, he/she is a Filipino citizen by birth.
 Yes, If a child is born in the Philippines to foreign parents, they are not automatically a Filipino citizen.
You can only become a legal citizen of the Philippines if your parent is a citizen or national of the Republic
of the Philippines, or by naturalization.

2. Have you interacted with people who have a different culture from yours?
How was your interaction with them?
     Was it clear?
     Was it productive?
     Was it respectful?
What could you have done for a better interaction?
 Yes
 My interaction has been very positive, especially when I approach the interaction with people. I always try
to learn from the people I meet. Sometimes that is a new type of food.
 Yes, My interaction has been highly productive, because I learn many from their culture.
 Yes, respectful because l learned to respect their culture. I realized how exactly are people of that culture.
 I wished I had asked more questions about their culture.

3. What is your attitude toward people who have a different culture from yours?

 I call it “interesting” because your second question is very “Black and White” to think I either “celebrate” a
different culture , or look down on them.
 Yes, I “celebrate” the fact that there are differences in people no matter what “culture” they were raised in.
But we are ALL different as human beings even if we grow up in the same home, and come from the
same cultural influences.
 No, I respected their culture and they respected mine.

4. What skills and knowledge do you need to improve in to become multi-culturally literate?

 Flexibility — The ability to respond and adapt to new and changing situations.
Respect — An appreciation for those who are different from one’s self.
Empathy — The ability to understand another person’s culture by listening to and understanding their
perspective.

5. Why should you as an individual respect and value people who are different from you?
 Because I am a respectful person regardless and it's how I was raised. This includes diversity. I respect
that everyone is allowed to be themselves, judge by their own means , and have their own personal
opinions. I do not believe that a difference in any of those factors in any given person on is reason to
disrespect. I believe the disrespect comes from any human being to categorize another human being as if
they are of a different species in which seems that's a human being is a human being and their is no real
division between them.
