An Educated Filipino

What are the qualities that an educated Filipino should possess? Is having a knowledge
enough to be called educated? An educated Filipino is not only he/she graduated on a university and
have a degree, but also having a good conduct, respect, wise, and knows the reality of this world.
Having an education is important but why isn’t enough to be called an educated Filipino?

First of all, every Filipino should know that having a good conduct which includes respect
and morality is the most important characteristics that we should learn. An educated Filipino knows
how to respect and shows support not only for his/her culture, but also to its fellow men and women.
I mean, through other race, elderly, PWD’s, ethnicity, and many more. In my own experience, I
know and I see a lot of people in everywhere and in social media who has a really good education but
lack of good conduct especially respect. They bully or sometimes mock and discriminate people who
has disabilities, judge their physical characteristics, and many more. These educated people that has
lack of good morality should not be tolerated especially in this generation where people forget to
have a good characteristic.

Second, being wise in our decisions and actions in life is one of the qualities an educated
Filipino should possess. Having a wise mindset is attractive. Knowing what’s best for you, what is
right or wrong, thinking critically and knowing the consequences of your decisions and actions is an
example of being wise. For instance, electing running politicians. In electing politicians, we should
vote who is deserving on that certain position, who’s going to help solve the problem of our country,
and who is a great leader for our country. That is why everyone should be wise in order to be called
an educated Filipino.

Lastly, an educated Filipino should possess facing and waking up to reality. Do this define a
Filipino is educated? Yes, in fact, many people are afraid to face the reality of this world because
they lack of self-esteem and they can’t accept their environment and their selves. Waking up to
reality guarantees many hardships, challenges, and efforts. As a result, a worth and a lesson learned
will derive us to keep on pushing forward. Every Filipino must have this kind of characteristic. This
will help us to be a better version of ourselves and will define as an educated person.

An educated Filipino is not only having a degree or graduated on a university school. Real
education can be seen through ourselves, environment, people that we see, experiences and
consequences we had from our decisions made. The reality is the real education in this world. How
can we call ourselves educated if we only have a degree but no good conduct, lack of respect, no
wise decisions etc.? Our world will be full of cruelty if we didn’t educate ourselves more.

In summary, educated Filipino is having a good characteristic. Let us make our country be
full of well-educated Filipinos. Influence others to learn new a lot of things and learn from it.
Together, let’s open up our mind, make our country and ourselves grow for the future of this
generation.
