Assignment Overview
1 Summary of the Assignment: [200-250 words]
1.1 Purpose: This assignment aims to know about hydropower, what is hydropower, what
does hydropower come from, how does hydropower work, benefits of hydropower
1.2 Main findings:
1.3 Conclusion:
“Water energy” is the power or force caused by the flow of water. which is a very
powerful force If unable to control Hydro power can cause widespread damage to life and
property. as an example flooding in the foothill slope area or areas with high slopes and the
occurrence of tsunamis, etc. diversion, and pumped storage There are three types of hydropower
facilities: impoundment, diversion, and pumped storage 1.IMPOUNDMENT the most common
type of hydroelectric power plant is an impoundment facility. 2.DIVERSION a diversion,
sometimes called a “run-of-river” facility, channels a portion of a river through a canal or a
penstock to utilize the natural decline of the river bed elevation to produce energy. 3.PUMPED
STORAGE another type of hydropower, called pumped storage hydropower, or PSH, works like
a giant battery. A PSH facility is able to store the electricity generated by other power sources,
like solar, wind, and nuclear, for later use. These facilities store energy by pumping water from a
reservoir at a lower elevation to a reservoir at a higher elevation.able to generate electricity
quickly By using it in conjunction with a hydroelectric machine. And can also control the
amount of energy production as we want. More importantly, hydroelectric machines are less
wear and tear than other types, thus making them last longer as well.
The dam was opened in 1964 and is owned and operated by the Electricity Generating
Authority of Thailand (EGAT). As of 2000, large-scale hydropower generation in Thailand had
reached almost 3 gigawatts (GW), and development has since slowed as concerns were raised on
environmental impacts of large hydropower plants.Generation from small-scale hydropower is
rising at a modest rate. There are many hydroelectric power plants from these power plant
reservoirs in Thailand, such as Bhumibol Tak Dam, Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit province and
Vajiralongkorn Dam in Kanchanaburi province, etc. Hydroelectric power plants flow throughout
the year. For example, Pak Mun Dam, Ubon Ratchathani province, etc. Pumped-back
hydroelectric power plant for power plants in Thailand which use this system is Lamtakong
Chonlapa Wattana Power Plant.Pumped-storage hydroelectric power plants in Thailand are Lam
Takong Chonlapha-Wattana Dam Power Plant. by using Lam Takhong Dam (Lam Ta Khong
River), Nakhon Ratchasima Province It is a lower reservoir and an additional upper reservoir is
built on Khao Yai Thiang, a replica of Lam Takong Chonlaphawattana Dam Power Plant. This
is to increase the water utilization efficiency of existing reservoirs. and also increase efficiency
in the power generation system as well At present, Thailand can generate hydropower in the
amount of up to 3,477.31 megawatts, divided into electricity generation. by the Electricity
Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), about 3,424.18 megawatts, of which 3,387.40
megawatts are large hydropower projects and 3,387.40 megawatts of hydroelectric power.
What I'd like to review is
1. Hydropower information in Thailand because it is a big topic that we will research.
2. The origin of various hydropower because it will provide more supplementary information.
3. Comparing hydropower with other countries because you will know about other countries that
we do not know.
