MODIFYING TOOLS

(PART 2)
ARRAY COMMAND
The icon for the “ARRAY” command
This command is used to create multiple copies of objects in either a rectangular or polar
array.
Note: Items arrayed in circle are referred to as a polar array.
HOW TO ACCESS: ENTER COMMAND ARRAY
MODIFY > ARRAY> RACTANGULAR ARRAY
MODIFY > ARRAY> PATH ARRAY
MODIFY > ARRAY> POLAR ARRAY
RECTANGULAR ARRAY
STEP 01: Select the Rectangular Array command from the modify toolbar or the Modify
panel of the house tab, and select objects to be arrayed and press “Enter”

STEP 02: Click the Arrays command’s contextual ribbon. This ribbon provides tools that
are in context to the Array command. You may enter the numbers of Columns and rows in
to the desired Columns and rows fields of the contextual ribbon.
Note: Columns run vertically, and rows run horizontally.

STEP 03. Enter the desired spacing between rows and columns into the between field of
the contextual ribbon.
Note: Positive Values means to create an array above and to the right of the objects
Negative Values means to create an array below and to the left of the objects

IF THE ARRAY WAS CREATED WITH THE ASSOCIATIVE BUTTON OF THE


CONTEXTUAL RIBBON ON, ALL OBJECTS IN THE ARRAYED PATTERN WILL
BEHAVE AS ONE ENTITY.
WHEN CREATING AN ARRAY, TURN ASSOCIATIVE OFF IF YOU DO NOT WISH
THE PATTERN TO BEHAVE AS A SINGLE ENTITY.
POLAR ARRAY
STEP 01: Select the Polar Array command from the modify toolbar or the Modify panel of
the house tab, and select objects to be arrayed and press “Enter”.

STEP 02: Select the object to be arrayed and press “Enter”.

STEP 03: Define the center point of the array by picking a point or typing X,Y coordinates
(then pressing “Enter”
STEP 04: Type I for items and “Enter” or select Items from the command line and enter the
number of items to be arrayed and press “ENTER”. The number of items can also be
entered into the Items field of the contextual ribbon.
STEP 05: Select the Fill Angle from the command line and center the angle to fill or enter
the angle into the Fill of the contextual ribbon and press “ Enter”.
Note: Another option is to enter the desired angle between objects (fill angle) into the
contextual ribbon’s field and pressing “Enter”
CHAMFER COMMAND
The icon for the CHAMFER is shown in the figure.

This command is used to bevel the corners of objects and lines.

The Distance option allows you to enter a chamfer distance for


both sides of the beveled corner.

The polyline option will bevel the corners of the polyline.


CHAMFER COMMAND
STEP 01. Select the Chamfer icon from the Modify toolbar or the Modify panel of the
Home tab
STEP 02. Type D (for distance) and press “Enter”
STEP 03. When Prompted to specify first chamfer distance, enter the distance to bevel
the first edge and press” Enter”.
STEP04. When prompted to specify second chamfer distance, enter the distance to bevel
the second edge and press “Enter”
STEP 05.When prompted to Select first line, pick the first line to be beveled near the end
to be beveled.
STEP 06. When prompted to Specify second line, pick the second line to be beveled.

EXTEND COMMAND
The icon for the extend is shown
This command is used to extend a line or object to meet another
object or line (called the boundary object).
Objects that can be extended are arcs, elliptical arcs, line and
polylines, and rays
EXTEND COMMAND
STEP 01. Select the EXTEND icon from the Modify toolbar or the Modify panel of the Home
tab.
STEP 02. When prompted to Select Boundary edge, press <Enter>. This will make all
entities a boundary edge.
STEP 03. When Prompted to Select object in extent, select the object to be extended near
the end that you would like to extend, the object will be extended to the next boundary
edge.
STEP 04. Pres <ESC> or <ENTER> to end the command.
