ENDING A DESKTOP SESSION

There are two options when ending a desktop session. Use of the “Log Off” option is preferred.
• Disconnect
• Log Off

LOG OFF
By logging off, your running processes and session are gracefully closed. This method is
preferred and provides the most trouble-free experience.

DISCONNECT
The toolbar contains a disconnect button. When a session is disconnected, started applications
will resume when you reconnect to the desktop.

Note: There is a timeout on disconnected sessions. If you are working on something make sure
that it is saved because it will terminate without saving when the timeout occurs.

Disconnecting a desktop and resuming where you left off is good for scenarios such as going to
lunch or going home to resume working later. Some applications or desktops create additional
system threads that can hold a connection open, which in some scenarios, can cause re-
connection issues. Because of this, the preferred method is to log off from the desktop’s start
menu, just like a traditional Windows desktop.

CITRIX CONNECTION CENTER

When connections are established with the Citrix Workspace app only, Connection Center
manages and shows connection statistics (this can be accessed on your local client PC).
Connection Center allows you to manage all your established JAAS connections.

To launch the Citrix Connection Center, access the icon in the notification area (by default,
bottom right corner of your screen).

1. Right-click the JAAS icon .

2. Select Connection Center.

The example image below shows multiple desktops being used. The system attempts to create
the best performance and experience based on usage. Multiple desktops share a single
connection.

In the example, there are four desktops open. In this example, Citrix Connection Center displays
the following. For each, you can then set preferences and look at connection statistics.

3. Select the connection to end and click Log Off.

ZOOM SETUP

For you to experience the optimal performance when using Zoom in any VDI solution you need
to install a plugin on the endpoint (the machine from which you are using to connect to JaaS).
This plugin is called the Zoom VDI HDX Plugin. Proceed as follows to get it installed:

1. Access this link: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360041602711-VDI-

downloads-and-backwards-compatibility

2. Click the latest version available. At the time of taking this screenshot the latest version
was 5.7.5:

End-User Guide: JAAS – Remote Access

3. On the page resulting from step #2, click the link correspondent to your endpoint
operating system. In this case, we will exemplify using Windows

4. Download the resulting file. It should be called ZoomCitrixHDXMediaPlugin.msi

5. Disconnect any active VDI Sessions you might have:

6. Run the file downloaded earlier. Click “Next” until the software installs

7. Re-initiate the JaaS session by navigating to jaas.nttdataservices.com

TROUBLESHOOTING

User Profile or application load issue: closing a remote desktop by clicking the “X” on its
window is the method we are all used to and for most applications, local or remote, and is
usually enough. However, some applications or desktops create additional system threads that
can hold a connection open, which in some scenarios, can cause re-connection issues.

It is recommended and best practice to develop a habit of using the Connection Center to Log
Off each Connection at the end of the workday.

This should also be done as the first troubleshooting step when facing any application or profile
load issues as it will fully refresh the user session.

Note: Due to changing network conditions it is not uncommon to get occasional errors when
trying to connect. Please try to connect a second time before contacting support.

Cannot Logon: Verify the correct credentials.

Unable to Connect to Desktop: If you receive the error message “Unable to Connect to
Desktop”, there is probably a configuration issue on the virtual desktop itself. Please make your
administrator aware of the issue.

XenDesktop “gray screen” or “Connection Interrupted”: This usually means loss of network
connectivity. It can also sometimes indicate a locked-up desktop session. Contact your system
administrator.
