TITLE:

Developing a Library Borrowing and Returning System in

Rizal Technological University
CAPSTONE PROJECT AREAS:
 Software Development
o Software Customization
 Information System Development with client
o Information System Development without client
o Web Application Development
o Mobile Computing System
□ Multi-media Systems
o Game Development
o E-Learning Systems
o Interactive Systems
o Information Kiosks

I. Background of the Project (Lei)

- The background of a study is one of the most important components of a research
paper. The quality of the background determines whether the reader will be
interested in the rest of the study. It contains the rationale, the key problem
statement, and a brief overview of research questions that are addressed in the rest
of the proposed system/software application.

II. Objectives of the Capstone Project

The objective of this project is to prevent any possible loss or missing books
that are belonged to a library, this project also maintains on who borrowed a
specific book, what type of book, what's the title of the book, when did they
borrow the book (time and date), the student's ID and what's the name of the
student. With this we can track both the book and the student, preventing any
confusion that might have occur when it comes borrowing or returning a specific
book.
Of course, for the students who wants to borrow any books that library can
supply, they are needed to create an account at the system so that once they are
going to borrow a book, they just need to show their ID to one of the staffs,
making borrowing or returning books, more simplified and less on consuming on
time. With this system, both students and staffs will experience on hassle-free
searching, borrowing and returning books. With this system, it is expected to
reduce the cost of library operations and provide a more productive environment
for both library staff members and students.

III. Significance of the Project (Lloyd)

- Explain the significance / importance of the proposed system/software application
to the beneficiaries.
- Students
- Researcher
- Community

IV. Scope and Limitations

This project aims to keep track of, obtaining data on, and improving the
security of every item that has been checked out from the library at Rizal
Technological University. Researchers are operating this system while it is being
developed to help students, librarians, and professors at the aforementioned
university to get information depending on the availability of every item in the library.

Scopes:
Information will be gathered based on the student’s campus ID, which acts as
proof of identity when requesting library materials. Also, after each borrower returns
their materials and the associated time period, their tracking information is removed.
Also, it won't promote products that aren't within its purview, like Wattpad, Comics,
etc. Also, any potentially outdated materials will be eliminated.

Limitations:
On the other hand, the said project system is not accessible for online. In
addition, it only used for searching, borrowing, and returning of books. Moreover,
the administrator is the only authorized person to alter, delete and make changes to
the system.

V. Project/Software Design Development Plan

In our project, we want to develop an information system like library system
that benefits students to make it easier for them to borrow books. The first thing we
do is plan requirements. In planning requirements, we define the application, like
username and password for admin, student registration, names of books borrowed,
issue books, returned books, records, and homepage. Next is the requirement
analysis. The project manager, system analyst, programmer, designer, and
documenter will hold a meeting to discuss and define each outlined requirement and
give more planning details like student registration. In user registration, we'll need a
student ID number, full name, Course code, save button, and close button. Next is
names of borrowed books. We'll need book ID, name of books, publisher, save
button, and close button. The third is issue books. In issue book, we'll need book ID,
Student ID, day when the book is borrowed, and day when the book is returned. The
fourth is return books.
The return books have the same content as the issue books. Finally, the
statistic. In statistics, it contains the record of issue books and returned books. Its
content is student ID, name of a student, books ID, name of a book, issue date, and
the due date. After we create the main content of our project, our system analysis
will test our project to find out if there is a problem or bug in it. The project will be
tested during the testing phase to confirm that it is functional and fulfills the
requirements. Functional testing, usability testing, and performance testing are all
included. We will do this over and over again until it fulfills the requirements.
