SANTA CLAUS / AMIGURUMI PATTERN BY AIRALI DESIGN
MATERIALS • Scheepjes Catona (100% cotton yarn, 50g / 130m):

red (Scarlet 192, 50g), brown (Black Coffee 162, 25g), beige (Linen 505, 25g),
pink (Cornelia Rose 256, leftover)
• Scheepjes Stone Washed (78% cotton, 22% acrylic, 50g / 130m):
white (Moon stone 801, 50g)
• Scheepjes Lizzy (80% viscose, 20% polyester, 25g / 101m):
gold (Gold 3, leftover)
• 2.5mm (US B/1 or C/2) crochet hook
• a pair of safety eyes (approx 9 mm diameter)
• tapestry needle
• stitch markers
• pipe cleaners (optional)
• recycled plastic sheet (optional)

SIZE 25 cm / 10 in tall when made with the indicated yarn
PATTERN NOTES It is not necessary to use the recommended yarn and crochet hook to make this ami-
gurumi. Using a larger crochet hook, and suitable yarn, the amigurumi will be bigger
while preserving the same proportions.
The pattern is mainly worked using the amigurumi method. Work in a continuous spiral
without closing off the round with a slst. It may help to use a stitch marker in the last
stitch of each round, moving it up as you work.
CONSTRUCTION Legs, body, arms and head are worked as one piece starting from the boots.
All the other pieces are worked separately and then sewn together.

ARMS LEGS AND BODY

Make 2, starting in beige yarn. Starting from the boots in brown yarn.
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12] BOOT AND LEG
Rnd 3 – 5 {3 rounds}: sc in all 12 st [12]
Make 2, starting in brown yarn.
Change to white yarn.
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
Rnd 6: 2-dc bobble in all 12 st [12]
Rnd 2: inc 6 times [12]
Change to red yarn.
Rnd 3: (inc, sc in next st) repeat 6 times [18]
Rnd 7 – 12 {6 rounds}: sc in all 12 st [12]
Rnd 4 (partial): sc in next st, hdc in next st, 2 dc in
Rnd 13: dec, sc in next 10 st [11]

Insert a pipe cleaner into the arm and stuff. Fasten

BODY
Rnd 19: continue working on the second leg {photo
5}, sc in next 22 st, you must reach the inner center
of the leg, continue working on the first leg, sc in
next 24 st, sc in next 2st of the second leg, place
the stitch marker into the last st [48] {photo 6}

Remove the stitch marker. Continue working sc until
you reach the front center of the body {photo 8},
place the stitch marker, slst in next st.
Continue working the bottom of the jacket in rows.

Do not fasten off {photo 9}. Slst in each row end to
get back to Rnd 30 {photo 10}, turn, ch1. Continue on

Rnd 31: (inc, sc in next 8 st) repeat 6 times [60]

Flatten the body and place a few stitch markers for
signing the position of the arms. You need: 16 sts for
the front and back of the body and 5 st for each arm
{photos 13 - 14}.
Rnd 43: work sc until the first stitch marker
(approx. 8 st) {photo 15}, hold the arm close to the
body, sc in next 5 st inserting the hook through both
the body and the arm {photo 16 - 17}, sc in next 16
st, sc in next 5 st inserting the hook through both
the body and the arm, sc until the end of the round

Rnd 44: work the stitches on the body and the
leftover stitches on the arms {photo 20}, sc in all 42

Stuff the legs and body and continue as you go.
Continue working the collar of the jacket.
COLLAR
Make sure you are at the front center of the body,

Fasten off and weave in ends {photo 25}. This piece is used as a base for securing the
hair of the beard. Cut several strands of white
yarn (approx. 8 cm long). Fold in half and use the
crochet hook to join each strand in a stitch into the
remaining loops of every rows. Comb the beard with
a wire brush (this step is optional {photo 27}) and
trim the edges. Sew the beard, just under the eyes
{photos 29 - 30}.
