DISCUSSION PROPER

Entrepreneurship
- is “a process of creating incremental
wealth through the efforts of individuals who find
new and useful ways to employ sources that led
to the creation of new products, services, or
technologies” (UP ISSI, 2012)
Entrepreneur
- is derived from the French words entre, to
enter, and prendre, to take. It is someone who
starts a new business, recognizes opportunities,
organizes resources to take advantage of the
opportunity, creates something new that will
provide value to customers, and willingly
accepts the financial risks associated with the
new business venture. (UP ISSI, 2012)
ENTREPRENEURSHIP HAS BEEN LINKED
WITH MANY BENEFITS TO THE SOCIETY…

1. Entrepreneurship helps the economy grow.

-The trade between consumers and
entrepreneurs involves money in exchange for
products or services. Money changes hands
between consumers and entrepreneurs. This is
how money circulates in the economy.

2. Entrepreneurship encourages technological

growth.
-Most of the time, consumers may actually
be able to provide those products and services
themselves, but entrepreneurs are able to find
ways to provide them easier, better, faster, safer
and healthier, greener, cheaper, or smarter
products and services.

3. Entrepreneurship aids in human development.

-According to United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP), “work is a
fundamental dynamic driver for enhancing
human development.” Work, including care
work, creative work and voluntary work,
contributes to the human development progress
through economic growth, poverty reduction,
and gender equality.

4. Entrepreneurship promotes inclusive growth.

-A local organic farmer saw an
opportunity to harness the aetas’ innate
knowledge on the soil, crops, and farming and
employed them to work in her organic farm.
When other local farmers got encouraged by
the success of her organic farm, they followed
suit and strengthened their advocacy towards
safer and healthier food by forming an organic
farmers cooperative.
