Assignment 1

Form a group of 2 members, find and solve

a) A tank of total volume of 1300 liters tank initially contains 600 liters of water with
1
5kg of salt dissolved in it. Suppose a solution with 5 (1 + cos (t)) kg/liter of salt
flows into the tank at the rate of 9 liters/hour. The solution in the tank is well mixed.
Solution flows out of the tank at the rate of 6 liters/hour. How much salt is in tank
when it overflows at (t= m hours)

Choose only 1 matric number for each group (Replace m with the last digit of
your matric no. For example, for a matric number with last digit is even number
(2, 4, 6, 8), 72342, 𝒎𝒎 = 500, for a matric number with last digit is odd number
3,5,7,9, replace m with (last digit – 1 ), 72349, 9 − 1 = 8, 𝑚𝑚 = 800 for a matric
number with last digit is either 1 or 0 value replace it to m= 100, 72341 or
72340, m= 300 )

Kindly write your name, group members and matric no, on top of the solution page.
Every student in the same group MUST SUBMIT the same solution.

Submit your assignment before or by 17th April 2021, 1200PM. Late submission is
