Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

in
Science

Grade: 4
Time and Date: 9:00 – 9:45 am
Oct 5, 2020

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of discussion, the student should be able to:
a. Identifying “Force” and “Motion”;
b. explain the relationship between force and motion; and
c. demonstrate understanding of force and motion in activity.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Force and Motion
References: Science Wonders 4 pages 268-274
Material: Plant in a pot, box, stick
Values Integrated: Cooperation

III. PROCEDURES
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Classroom Management
Arrange the chair in order and telling them to get the trash near in their place.
4. Checking Attendance
5. Review
Define Photosynthesis. How it happens in a plant?

B. MOTIVATION
“PINOY HENYO”
The Class will be group into 2. They will guess the word will be given to them. For group I (Pot) for group II (Box). The
group who guess it faster will be the winner.

C. LESSON PROPER
Demonstrate what force can do to a plant in a pot by pushing it. First push it by yourself only. Second ask the student to
push it together.
Ask. What have you observed? Does the plant in a pot move? Is there a movement when I push the pot on my desk?
What happened when the teacher and the students moved the plant in a plot? In what direction did the plant in a pot
move?

When you lift, pull, push, or twist things, you make objects at rest
move. The effort exerted upon an object by lifting, pulling,
pushing, or twisting is called force. Force is needed to move things
from one place to another. It can also stop a moving object. Many
forces may act simultaneously or all the time on a single object,
When an object moves from one place to another along some path, the movement is called motion. It involves a change
in position. Forces produce or stop motion. The motion of an object is determined by the forces that act on it.

Forces Acting on Objects

Unbalanced Forces

Imagine two persons on one side of a rope in a tug-of-war game,

pulling the other side consisting of one person.
The forces acting on opposite sides are unbalanced. Unbalanced
forces can move objects at rest. They can start objects to move.
The direction is toward the stronger force.

Balanced or Equal Forces

Ten pupils of the same age and size form two groups of five
members. They play a tug-of-war game. Neither of the two
groups of the same size and strength was able to pull the rope
to their side.

The forces acting opposite each other are balanced or equal. These forces make things or objects stay of rest or stop
motion. When forces acting on an object are balanced or equal. There is no motion.

D. APPLICATION

For 5 minutes. Get ½ crosswise paper. In your own words, define Force and Motion?

E. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will ask the following questions:

1. What determines the motion of an object?

2. Where does motion take place when unbalanced forces act on an object?
3. What do balanced or equal forces do to objects?
4. Differentiate Force and Motion?

IV. EVALUATION

A. Draw a smiling face ( ) on the blank if the sentence is true or a frowning face ( ) if the sentence is false.

_______ 1. Force is needed to move objects from one place to another.

_______ 2. Force cannot stop a moving object.
_______ 3. Motion involves a change in position.
_______ 4. When unbalanced forces act on an object, motion takes place in the direction of the lesser force.
_______ 5. Balanced or equal forces makes object stay at rest or stop motion.
_______ 6. There is motion when unbalanced or unequal forces act on an objects.
_______ 7. The effort exerted upon an object is called motion.
_______ 8. The force of an object is determined by the motion that acts on it.
_______ 9. Only one force acts on a single object.
_______ 10. Force involves a change in position.

B. Enumeration

1. Name five activities that you do at home and in school that involve push.
2. Name five activities that you do at home and in school that involve pull.
3. Name five activities that you do at home and in school that involve both.
4. Name five activities where there are unbalanced forces.
5. Name five activities wherein balanced forces can be applied.
V. ASSIGNMENT

Answer the following question:

1. What is the force that opposes motion?
2. What are the key concept associated with motion? Give the meaning of those key concepts.
