Native word biko meaning “twisted” or “bent”.

People

 Known as Ibalon interpreted from ibalio


means “to bring to other side”
 People are called ibalon; the people from the
other side or ibalon people are hospitable and
give visitors gifts to bring home.
 Bikol people were described by some Spanish
chronicles as very fierce warriors.

1649  Samuroy Revolt (Rebellion).

rejected, Americans returned to
force: burning, pillaging and
killing.

1901  American Military government

1941  Japanese Soldiers landed in
Legaspi. Two days later marched
in Naga.

invasion against Japanese.
Organize first guerrilla force
(group combat).
1945  Douglas McArthur’s sixth Army
defeated the Japanese with the
support of Filipino guerrillas in the
region.
